Yeah we get little snow, two or three good falls. Truck handles it pretty good as is so I've never needed to change tires.
Deep snow might be another problem.

I'm still not sure if I buy winters this year or just get through it with the stick tires before going AT in the spring

I ran stocks for the longest time all year round. Worst case of traction was an issue I would use 4wd.
One I got a/t’s I have been fine. Would not suggest mud tires in the winters

Winters are definetely a good investment. However I personally just haven’t found a need for my driving.

I have gone up to Quebec and mont st Anne with my a/t’s. Just had to throw it in 4wd and I felt tons of traction.

Just have to do what you feel comfortable with. You definetely won’t regret getting winters. It is another expense. Lots of guys are running winters and wouldn’t change. Just have to do what you think.

My brother in law had Mickeys Baja ATZ mud tires and they were terrible in rain and don't even mention snow. He was scared driving in winter. Got rid of them quick. But did they ever look good on his Sport.

I'm hesitant to chop anything except the cab mount to clear my tires. Doing fenders and all scares me.

They have downgraded our city road maintenance. My last tank of gas went 288 KM / 68 L. 4x4 is so hard on gas, and I have been having to use it constantly.

Which brings up a question I have, regarding engaging and disengaging 4Hi.

I have to drive for 20 minutes, I might only need 4Hi for 5 of those minutes. Yet they are spaced apart so it means engaging and disengaging 4Hi over and over.

I try to have it engage 4Hi as soft as possible, with no heavy clunk. Pretty good at it now.

1.) Do you leave it in 4Hi for the 20 minutes ($$$ on gas)

2.) Engage as needed over and over (will this break my shit eventually?)

I have done what you do, switch in the go as needed. I think that's what the system is designed for, as needed. I think as long as you slow down and ease off throttle, should be good.

ya, you have to be carefull tho...at least on the 3rd gen, the 4wd selector is right beside the temp selection knob. Last week during the snow I was cruising and went to put in 4hi...accidentally put the hvac to 23.5 C...I mean, I caught it real quick and all but I hope I didnt permanently damage anything :D

You could get a ZR2 and put it in auto 4wd, then if it senses slippage or more throttle when needed but will cruise in 2wd when you don’t need it.

Im kidding, a useless feature. I don’t want to be surprised and all of a sudden have traction. Either on or off

hahahah, yea that sounds like a useless feature. That most people would just leave on.
