This one came from yet another baby boomer who recently decided to get a Facebook account and started friend-requesting everyone he could find. Believe it or not, that baby boomer is my ex-girlfriend's dad. We did not break up on bad terms, but rather she simply moved to Florida with her family (there's a lot more to it than that, but we are still friends).

This is the most random shit I've ever seen in a chain letter...

 

This one came from a 60-something Air Force vet I know (he plays drums in my best friend's band)...

And this is why you don't give your phone number out to your friend's autistic sister...

We were all at a restaurant for someone's birthday, and my friend's younger sister suddenly asked if she could have my phone number. I asked "Why?" My friend jumps in and is like "It's okay, man. She won't bother you or nothing." Not wanting my friend's sister, who is quite low-functioning compared to me and my other friends, to feel bad, I give her my number. My friend, who also has Asperger's (a son with Asperger's and a daughter with low-functioning autism, what a handful), was right. His sister didn't outright bother me, but every holiday without fail I get a text message wishing me Happy Whatever...

And we are not talking the usual "Merry Christmas," but also obscure holidays like Saint Patrick's Day...

My best friend, who also has Asperger's, also gave this guy's younger sister his cell phone number and now regrets it as well. The problem is that the two of us are too nice to just outright block her. One bit of good news is that apparently it's become such an epidemic that our friend has gotten wise to this and now goes out of his way to make sure his sister doesn't obtain anyone else's phone number...

 

That ain't nice!

I asked him nicely to stop sending me chain letters...

 

I do suppose shooting him would be frowned upon in certain circles.

It's actually a really sad story. He's a black guy who's like 2 years older than me. He was not born with an intellectual disability. He involved in a serious car accident as a child (years before I met him), and among other things, this accident really scrambled his brains. He was in a wheelchair for the longest time, and when I met him he was using a walker. He could still talk and sort of walk, but his speech was very slow and stuttering. At 13 years old, when I first met him, he had the mindset of an 8-year old.

He came from a relatively poor family with multiple children, and his mom could not afford to care for him following this car wreck. As a result, she either put him into the foster care system or put him up for adoption (I forget which, but at the age of 9 or 10!). Unlike most foster child or adoption situations, his mom remained in his life and visited him fairly regularly. I do not know who was driving at the time of this car crash, but I would like to point out that if his mother and siblings were injured, they showed absolutely no signs of it.

It's just so sad. My friend came from a poor, but relatively stable and quite loving, family. The only reason he ended up in foster care was because his family had insufficient funds to care for him after something that totally wasn't his fault...

 

Sometimes it's quite hard though...

The same guy from Oak Harbor? Within a week of reconnecting with him on Facebook, I had to block him from sending me requests because it became so prolific!
