    It’s unfortunate that happened to your friend with wreck, injuries and family giving him up. There is help out there to assist in these type of situations so it makes me wonder why they still have him up.
    Some folks take advantage of the niceness from others and don’t know when they cross a line. Good for you on drawing the line in the sand and saying no more.

    Was having trouble loading some of the pics (I'm on my iPhone), so that's why they're divided a bit...

    Thompson is actually one of the smaller Toyota dealerships I know of. Peruzzi, where my dad bought the Taco I currently drive, is much bigger.

    Size, however, has nothing to do with sales volume! Thompson can barely keep the new Tacos and Tundies on the lot! The same goes for used Tacos and Tundies!

    Let's take a look at Thompson's new truck and SUV inventory as of last Sunday...

    I'm on Tundras.com too, and I chat with this guy from California who goes by the username Marty McFly and he has a TRD Pro.

    For $39K, I say it better have one hell of a sound system, but Marty's PRO doesn't have a decent sound system according to him. If a PRO's stereo lacks balls, then I'm pretty sure a TRDOR's does too!

    FYI, my Taco had a shit sound system from the factory, but mine is bottom of the barrel. Adding a more-than-adequate stereo cost me like $600!

    In a $40K truck, it would be nice if the hard work was done for me...

    @Plain Jane Taco

    Bill, I could not help but notice that you had a bug deflector in your white '13 RC. I had WeatherTech rain guards installed on my Taco last summer right before I want to Carlisle. I think they look downright snazzy in addition to actually serving a very useful function...

    When I went to California for almost two weeks, I accidentally left the windows down partially and it rained heavily in the Philly area at some point while we were gone. No water got into the truck!

    So, when it comes to getting a WeatherTech bug guard for my Tacoma, my dad says I should save my money but it's up to me how I spend it and he's not going to stop me.

    I was about to order a WeatherTech bug guard until I chatted with my neighbor Ryan (same guy who installed the backup camera in my truck and helped install 2 head units). Ryan told me he though bug deflectors looked ugly, and installing one on my Tacoma would ruin the appearance. Specifically, he felt it would ruin the seamless and flowing appearance of my HomerTaco grille. I took him at his word and decided not to order one, but now I am considering it again...

    What do you think?

    She'll be needing an oil change next month!

    Yes, I do realize it says November, but my mechanic would also be writing those reminder stickers for every 3K miles instead of every 5K if I hadn't finally made him put a note by my truck's file to the contrary...

    My owner's manual clearly states that Toyota recommends changing the engine oil every 5,000 miles or 6 months, whichever comes first...
    image.jpg

    Conveniently enough, I typically put about 5,000 miles on the truck every 4 to 6 months. It used to be I had the oil changed in spring (April-May) and in fall (September-October). Now, I find that I'm driving a hell of a lot more than I used to (work, car shows, visiting family), and my truck is really packing on the miles! I expect to surpass 90K either on the way to, or on the way back home from, the 2018 Truck Nationals in Carlisle next August!

    image.jpg

    I expect to be at 100K well before the end of the decade!

    There really is something special about hitting 100K miles on a vehicle you've had since it was brand new...

    How'd you do it? Another TW member offered me the OEM fogs form his 2nd gen for free on the condition that I just pay shipping costs...

    Also, did you see my question about the bug-flector?

    So I think I've finally solved the "We Card" problem...

    One of my biggest grievances is that it's not enough for the typical store employee to scan my license. They also have to scan the thing through a device that resembles a credit card scanner. I have a feeling this has something to do with why I've been getting a sudden influx of scam phone calls.

    So, my solution? My military ID! As a dependent of my Navy veteran father, I use this government-issued picture ID as an insurance card. It also gets me into all U.S. Military bases and doesn't get second glances from TSA people at the airport! It also does not have my home address on it!

    The best part? It doesn't seem to work in the scanner, but by law Wawa is required to accept it. It has my picture and birthdate on it, and it's a literal government-issued document!

    @Iamraiderpower

    Some schmuck in a really beat-up silver 2001ish Toyota Camry has continued to park his or her car in my boss's reserved parking space after receiving numerous warnings in the form of notes slipped under the wiper blade.

    I think the owner of this Camry is a construction worker of some sort doing work on a nearby building...

    Anyway, my boss finally got fed up and called parking enforcement, who will not ticket vehicles on private property unless specifically called by the property owner or someone authorized to act on behalf of the property owner...

    Now, instead of a polite warning under their windshield wiper, the owner of this Camry will find a $50 early Christmas present from the Borough when they get off work!

    @ChadsPride

    How do I put decent tint on my windows without turning my truck into a cop magnet? I've had my license almost 7 years and have managed to get pulled over only twice, both times for legitimate moving violations and not petty bullshit equipment violations.

    One thing my truck has historically been very good at is not attracting unwanted attention from the cops, and I want to keep it that way.

    If I had my way, I'd put full limo tint in my truck, but I've had enough petty bullshit dealings with police in the last 5 years and I'm sick of it!

    Here's a picture of my truck taken just a few minutes ago...

    And for those of you just tuning in, those "petty bullshit dealings with police" are as follows...

    March 2013: Stopped by police for taking pictures in public, and interrogated by 4 cops for 20 minutes (Still haven't quite gotten over that).

    March 2017: Didn't bother to check duiblock.com and went home from work on St. Pat's the same way I always went home; encountered a DUI checkpoint and a relaxing 12-minute drive home turned into 40-minute drive from hell. NOTE: I hadn't been drinking, but the whole experience still terrified me.

    May 2017: Pulled over for doing 43 MPH in a 25 MPH zone in Doylestown Borough at 11pm on a Wednesday night. I mouthed off to the cop because I didn't know the cop was actually pulling me over until I pulled over to let him past and he swooped in behind me , I didn't think I'd been speeding, and I believed I'd been stopped for "suspicion of drunk driving" simply because I was one of only two vehicles on the road at 11pm. FYI, I'd had two Beck's non-alc beers that night, but no real alcohol...

    One of the bouncers at my work has a wife and kids and they have a 2017 Kia Sedona minivan. Not long after they took delivery of the van, the wife was pulled over for rolling a stop sign. This was in Warwick Township, where cops are well known for being pricks. They are not unprofessional or corrupt or anything like that, they just try to find any violation they possibly can. From what I've heard, being polite and respectful to a Warwick cop will not get you very far. I am not by any means telling you to be an asshole, and I encourage you to be polite no matter what, but the point I'm trying to make is that Warwick police officers are well known for being dicks...

    So, the bouncer's wife gets pulled over for rolling a stop sign and is very polite. The female cop takes one look at this brand new van and proceeds to tell the bouncer's wife that the window tint is too dark and thus illegal.

    Still being very polite, the bouncer's wife asked how the tint could be illegal when this was a brand new van and that's the way it had come from the local Kia dealership...

    The original reason for the traffic stop was seemingly forgotten and a back-and-forth between woman driver and woman cop began...

    The argument ended with the bouncer's wife getting her license and registration back, and also getting a simple written warning and no citations, but not before the cop told her that she's better not drive the Sedona through "her township" ever again...

    FUN FACT: Both the bouncer and his wife have driven their van through Warwick Township without incident since then...

    Another story of Warwick Township Police douchebaggery at its finest...

    My friend was driving his 2011 Altima, which means this was anytime after he totaled the 2003 Highlander in about July 2013 but before we moved out of the old house in April 2016. I think it was sometime in 2014 or 2015...

    My friend Doug is not the best driver, but he's never gotten his license suspended or even gotten any points on it. My old neighborhood was located directly across the street from an elementary school, which meant there was one of those infernal 15 MPH school zones. One thing I do not miss about living in that house is having to deal with all the rules and regulations that came with being so close to a school...

    Anyway, Doug and I both go to a gym located right around the corner from my old house...

    Doug was driving through the designated school zone. He ended up getting pulled over for doing 28 MPH in a posted 15 MPH zone. But first, here are some things you should know before you condemn my friend as a speed demon and say he deserves a ticket...

    1. My dad and I both loathe school zones. My dad says that the speed limit in school zones when he was a kid was 25 MPH! It's nothing but a thinly disguised revenue generator.

    2. My friend was not driving like he was on a racetrack. He was in a relatively insconspicuous 4-door sedan doing not even 30 MPH.

    3. This was NOT right after school has let out for the day, but rather closed to the time when they shut off the flashing lights. There were no kids or school buses present!

    4. My friend had gotten out of two or three potential tickets prior to this incident because he was very polite to the officer. He'd had a couple of accidents too, but I don't think either of them would have been on his record...
