    Raptor update!

Tacoma is in storage but has some upgrades waiting, along with the trailer slowly coming along still. This year has been crazy and well worth delaying everything!

just leave the fox shocks that are on the raptor where they are and you should be ok haha. those internal bypasses are legit I don't understand why ppl swap them out.

I am, the only thing I MIGHT do is the RPG level collars to level it out. But I plan to tow with this and I don’t want it sagging a bunch so I may not do that.

It rides nice, over really big consecutive bumps the tail almost spun out on me, so that’s my only con of the truck. It sucks on really really rough paved roads.

you'd think it would soak that up like a Cadillac. but I guess the valved it to suck big whoops. I know the Raptor rear leafs are a little softer then the normal F150 so might look into the timbrin bumps or something to help the rear sag.

I will be going to silver lake in the spring so I’m excited to see how it performs in the sand, for the rear I looked at timbrens but reviews say it makes the ride even worse. There is a guy that came up with a really cool diesel rear shock set up and the second shock is an air shock instead of oil, so it helps with added weight and allows full travel

I know with the Timbrens if you don't have enough gap between the bump and unloaded, or if when you load it up its not actually sitting on the bump it will cause a bumpy/rough ride. When I moved back to NY from MI I had a 6x12 uhual behind the Tacoma with the Timbrens. Bumps were very fully engaged and the truck rode great. Un-loaded it had a little extra bump to it, but once I swapped the leaf pack to Dakars that all went away.
Second shock is a good idea, only other would be airbags but that def will screw up with the rear suspension travel.

Def super jelly of the raptor though, if I had the cash for that it def be tough between one of those or a F350 diesel

The Raptor is awesome. I was originally waiting for the diesel F150 but the Raptor fit the bill perfectly and does a few extra things (jumping )

I’m waiting for the new ranger I think. Expecting a son in March (first kid) so it might come down to full size or if the ranger can fit a car seat better then a Tacoma. The rear facing kind of barely fits in the Tacoma. I might end up waiting on the diesel f150 depending on the price

Make sure you watch that composite oil pan for leaks. They are prone to it and never are right after that. They have to throw away oil pan and replace with new one and the gasket material has to cure for 24hours before oil is added back to motor. Also they still have yet to correct the High Pressure Fuel pump and timing chain tensioner failing issues. So keep an eye on that eco. I just came out of one and boy let me tell ya it was a long hard headache. Mine was a 16.

Believe it or not, the raptor is winding or longer than my Tacoma. It’s taller but that’s about it. It’s not even heavier... haha. If they release the ranger raptor then that would be sweet! Or the bronco

I heard about that. I’m just over 400 miles and haven’t noticed anything yet. I am definitely keeping an eye on the engine. I have heard a weird whining/grinding noise that kind of sounds like a bad pulley bearing, but it’s a ford so, it will have its issues. Not too worried with it being under warranty, as long as it’s all repaired properly.

All of the idler pulleys went out on me early. I have videos of them rocking in and out makes ya go o_O 2 of them had spit out all of the internal oil and was all over the face of the pulley

haha I had to read it out loud the first time and assumed that's what you meant. Figured you got into the beer cooler a little early.

I have noticed that dimension wise they are kind of close. The cab height difference makes a F150 seem a lot bigger. But a Double Cab Long bed is about the same length as a F150 supercrew short bed. I do think they are a little wider, but the added interior room is worth it

Did you have a raptor or regular 3.5?

They are definitely wider than a stock Tacoma but I know a regular f150 is 79.9” so add 6” to that for a raptor and it’s about 86”. Smidge over 7’ wide, and I think my tacoma is about the same with the long travel

The interior is so roomy. Everything adjusts. Everything is heated and cooled. I love it.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think the crank and camshafts are different as well.
