Anyone got any recommendations for the fog light on the 3rd gens? I hate how poor the output is. Not looking to install a high end kit, just maybe a better bulb/led alternative.

I have Baja Designs squadron sport for my fogs. Best fog replacement out there. Wide cornering lens, plug and play with brackets/install kit.

The most bang for the buck is the Sylvania Osram " Silver Star Ultra" H-11 this is also the same bulb in your lo beams headlights These are american made and have an established pattern for longevity, this is what a lot of the off-road guys use. there is plenty written in this forum about different bulbs, but for inexpensive and reliable you cant beat them. available at all auto supply stores, even Walmart has them. because they fit both places they keep a spare set in the tool box.......just in case.
Bottom line is always the same........Speed/Performance/Quality cost. How fast do you want to Go??

The only one of those that is a valid option for street use is the Morimotos. The others have no beam cut off and are basically high beam, blinding other drivers on the road, and yourself in fog.

    See above comment.

Silverstars are not a performance upgrade, they are a cosmetic one. No true performance bulb will be fully coated, as it reduces light output. But many are often mislead by the light being whiter due to the blue coating.

Best stock wattage halogen bulbs are Philips Xtreme and Osram Nightbreakers.

Thank you that’s what I was going for! A basic bulb that may improve lighting. I just dropped 3k on my Tacoma so I’m not trying to spend more haha.

Kings, 275/70/17, a few custom items, lots of Meso mods.
You seem to know a bit about this topic. Of the 2 Halogens you listed, "Philips Xtreme and Osram nightbreakers" which would you recommend? I don't want HID or Led. Just want some better direct replacements that are a little whiter. Thanks

To be fair, he never mentioned street use;)
And while I agree, the sports are borderline street use with the correct lens(wide cornering) . Although not DOT approved.
And we all know you're a halogen whore:p

In stock wattage halogen, you get brighter or whiter, not both.

Of the two, look for whichever has the highest +1xx number available in your bulb size. I think last I checked Philips had the brightest, but there gets to be a point of diminishing returns where they are basically the same.

I used a headlight aiming board mine. They might not have a sharp cutoff but I was able to aim them appropriately per the established guidelines for fog lights, and the beam pattern nearly identically imitates what came stock on the truck and many other cars (short and wide beam, low to the ground). When standing in front of the truck with the lights on, there is minimal glare coming into your eyes, and certainly nothing offensive enough to dazzle oncoming traffic.

While they may not technically be street legal, I have had no run-ins with the law, and have never been flashed (not even once) for annoying an oncoming driver. (This is over about 15k+ miles IN CITY LIMITS). I almost always use them when I am driving at night.

I’d be curious to see your aiming board pics. Not having a sharp cut off somewhat defines what is acceptable for street use, meaning they are not.

DOT rigids are unreal. I’ve has them when they first came out, and will have them again soon.

Edit- just scored the whole set for $250.

There are pictures between the Baja pro and the sports floating around in the lighting forum.

The pros are way brighter... So bright I think it's likely you'll get pulled over and ticketed eventually. The sports, while not dot approved are unlikely to get you pulled over, in my opinion. I am actually planning on getting the sports with the amber lens, which also helps with not blinding oncoming drivers. I also only use my fogs when visibility I low, not all the time with the low beams.

I bought and installed the Rigid Industries Kit mentioned above. Installation was more or less straight forward. You have to buy a short interface cable to connect them to your OEM fog light plug (if you have one). I think that was an extra $30. This makes it plug and play. I was worried about the current draw so I called Rigid Industries. They told me that their fog lamps draw about 1/2 of what the OEM ones do so OK to operate them with OEM harness and switch in cab. They look cool. Have not used them for what they were designed for. Rigid Ind supplied the fog lighs for the Pro. They are not the same as these. Not sure what the differences are.
