I have a 60 gallon Campbell-Hausfield compressor. It has an automatic drain already equipped on the bottom.

So I understand I should really be using the dessicant/oil remover combo for when I run a spray gun on an individual line?

Now I have a dinky little sandblaster from harbor freight circa 2002, it's the benchtop model. Should I worry about an air drier? I mainly use aluminum oxide/glass beads and garnet for really rusty stuff.

Do I need any kind of filter for just normal air tools? I can't figure out if I need that independent air filter or if I should return it.

Not really. You would have to do hours and hours of wrenching to make it worth while.

When would using that air filter make sense?

Kind of wondering it would be beneficial to painting if I used it in series with the air/oil separator combo.

Why? How is there going to be dirt if you have an air filter on intake of the compressor?

You really only need a particulate filter if the air is going thru a desiccant dryer then to your spray gun. We've already decided that a desiccant dry won't gain you enough to pay for itself.

Garentee you will get more contaminates in the paint from the shop atmosphere. This is why we wet sand when done. Lol.

Ok, electrical question for the day. House had a timer switch when I bought it that didn't work. Decided easiest thing would be to just replace timer switch and rewire same way. That did not work. Which means original switch might be fine also. Main question I have is why would someone wire black to white and white to black as pictured? Is there any reason for that? Any ideas on how to troubleshoot? I'm at a loss because everything else works fine. House was also completely original from when it was built in 1994 so I highly doubt the previous (original) owner screwed with anything. Pictures are hard to follow I know but hopefully helpful...

    Do you keep popping breakers?

Where does the black-in-white line go? Is the object down stream wired backwards as well?

Breakers are not popping. It's been like this for years I'm assuming. Don't know where it's going either

If you did connect the black/white that are "backwards" does it have any voltage present?
The black/white issue might be out to the fixture that is NOW hardwired that could have been wired through a switch originally, something like an outdoor light that is motion/light sensitive or a fixture that has its own controls on board like a ceiling fan with lights.

Update: new switch came on. Couldn't tell you why exactly. I reset it and removed a jumper and wired directly to hot. Maybe that did it?

If I didn't know any better, and the fact that our house burned down, Id swear that was a box out of our house! Shit mess wiring every time I went to change a fixture...

is it a two way switch? sometimes when the fixture has two switches that control it like stairway light switch at top of stairs and one at the bottom. one switch will have the white tied into black but should have electrical tape at the end of the white wire to let you know it is power.
