I went looking at some new radios and they said they would install this one but I would not be able to use the factory backup camera but I could use the buttons on the steering wheel. They said this one uses your phone navigation so you don’t have to get it updated every few years. I have a iPhone 700.00 total good/ bad ?

I've got the 4200NEX & the back up cam, steering wheel controls all work. I've got the iDatalink too. Other than the usual room/space issues, it's all good.

Seems like a not so good deal to me... Try Crutchfield. Swapping out headunits is pretty easy with their wiring. I got a JVC Arsenal KW-V820BT for $319.99. Has Carplay and a spot to hook up a back up camera not sure if it would work with the factory camera though. Wiring plugged right in for another 60 and I have full use of steering wheel controls. Awesome company to work with and extremely helpful.

You should be able to use your OEM camera on it. I can use it on mine.

You can use the oem camera but it requires you to make your own camera connect out of an rca plug. There's a write up on here of how to do it. I don't know if the idatalink maestro has an easier hook up method. Installing your own headunit is actually relatively easy, even if you don't use a soddering iron. I used posi-lok connectors and everything works great. Unless you're really strapped for time or completely un-mechanically inclined I think I'd read up on all the DIY threads and then just buy the unit and do the work yourself. If you get it through crutchfield you'll get the harnesses and trim pieces you need.

    Who is 'they'?

Have you looked at Crutchfield.com? Even if you don't buy via them, you may be able to find what units do everything you want.

What is the consensus on the most recommended aftermarket radio? I want to use the OEM backup camera, steering wheel controls, Bluetooth, and satellite radio.

I have a Kenwood 9903 and love it, glass touch screen and great sound and features. I had a pioneer 4200nex and while it was ok, it wasn’t as good as the Kenwood. I think the newest pioneers with CarPlay are all pretty good, same with the newest Kenwood’s.

So this Pioneer 1300 with Carplay is “Passive”?

No internal amp to power the speakers?

I Installed the same stereo in my 2010. I bought it and the wiring kit that allowed me to keep all of my steering wheel controls from Crutchfield. Programming the data interface controller was the hardest part. The actual install took maybe an hour and a half. My backup camera works in my rear view mirror and I did not change that. Great unit, I like it a lot.

@ChesterTaco Yes the backup camera still works in the mirror and would continue to work if it was wired to work on the display.

Cool. Looks like a nice unit. I'll have to get me a late Christmas present, hope it works on the display.
