I understand where you're coming from, and to each their own - by all means buy whichever part you thinks works best for your intended use and budget.

A couple corrections to your argument though:
    1. Toyota does not manufacture ball joints.
    2. Moog also does not manufacture ball joints (for 1st gen Tacomas).

The ball joints you posted earlier are marked "Three Five (555)", which is an aftermarket brand manufactured by Sankei/555, a Japanese auto parts manufacturer.
Sankei also makes the Toyota OEM ball joints for 1st gen Tacomas - they are a totally different product, and are licensed exclusively through Toyota (you can't buy them from an auto parts store).
Moog simply rebrands/distributes the Sankei/555 aftermarket parts as a US distributor.

The recall on the limited number of OEM ball joints was due to a manufacturing quality control issue, which was rectified before it ever became a TSB. That is actually fairly common, and if you think about the number of products manufactured by a company as large as Sankei, it would be fairly improbable that it wouldn't happen at some point.

For some light reading on the subject, I would encourage you to read this excellently detailed post by Mr. @Dirty Pool himself:
    check your ball joints

You need to do more research on this subject.

Toyota has many faults. What car/truck doesn't. However. Toyota is very very well know for they extremely durable...well everything. That is why you own a 1st gen Tacoma right?

As someone who has dealt with LBJ issues multiple times. Do yourself a favor. And send all those back. Ask gunny for some oem ones and at least you'll definitely get a left and right one and it'll be good for a long life span.

Read the link posted above. It's worth noting how poor the overall design is of our LBJ and the massive forces subjected to it. That is why you don't want to cheap out.

I have a gallery of pictures and personal experience that says no we cannot. Would you like to see?

What is is with everyone trying to save a buck on these, really there are so many better places to search for "a deal". I'm not an all OEM everything guy, but this is one part where you just shouldn't try to weasel out of buying OEM.

Moog is trash i used their products in another application and they were shot after a 1000 miles. Moog is living off name recognition and home jobber suckers that will break into a happy dance because they get to replace that "lifetime" warranty part again for FREE and nothing more. It's the free part that gets them excited because free and their time is worth nothing.

I am basing my use of OEM on results people get that use them to extremes not on what MOOG tells you. The "people who modify multiple aspects of the major components of their trucks" do this so they can do extreme off roading not because they are bad parts. They modify these parts to be able to put larger tires and better suspension. They do all kinds of research to make sure their mods are what is needed so they do not break down when they are several miles from any where. So these people use OEM ball joints because the research tells them they are the best. Do you not think if there were a better part they would be using it? These same people spend thousands of dollars modding their trucks so I'm sure if there were a better ball joint they would use it no matter the cost. If the OEM last longer with the abuse they give their truck it will surely last longer on a mall crawler too. I don't know about all the other aspects of Toyota you are referring to, I am only referring to lower ball joints. I find it "HILARIOUS" how people think that manufactures don't make different quality products for different customers. Why do you think Toyota Tacoma lower ball joints look different than all the other ball joints made for the same truck? They are made to Toyota specs. If Moog or anyone else can make a cheaper product to get the after market business they will. Do you also think different grades of spark plugs is "epic level of complete ridiculousness" or all tire makers use the same quality control across the board? Come on, you can pick at any product but do a little research.

Hey @Bartmaster, is the C-frame part of your ball joint kit made from steel or aluminum?

Talking Toyota in general, the company. Didn't say Tacoma specifically.

The 2017 Tacoma is rated the worst truck of 2017. Where are you getting anything about 1999? (The point of that is that Toyota has had just as many problems as any other manufacture, and the example shows it even includes current trucks).

I'm guessing it's steel since this is a cheapo ebay kit, but I'll check later.

Regardless I had 200k on oem ball joints switched due to age to mooj had those 5k till they had horrible amounts of play now back to oem the past ~45k. I know what I'll stick with

No one is saying anything about a conspiracy, and I may be "the new guy" to Tacoma World, but I'm not -by any stretch of the imagination- new to wrenching on trucks or parts selection.

This is a "Tastes Great" - "Less Filling" arguement... I just love throwing grenades.
