I've been noticing that when I park on inclines and leave the truck in gear, i come back and its not exactly where I left it. I didn't really know what to think until today.
I parked on a slight incline and was inside for 4-5 minutes and I came back out and my truck was 2 feet from where i parked it. I got all hot inside with worry but still didn't know what was happening since i'm never in it when it moves. so on my way home I parked on a pretty steep hill by my house, shut it off and put it in 3rd gear [which is what gear it was in what gear it was in when it just did it] and sat there. not twenty seconds it nudged forward. then it did it again. increments of 15-25 seconds.

What could it be exactly besides gears slipping. I don't know much about transmissions other than this isn't going to be cheap...

Try 1st or reverse. Compression relieving and nothing more than that.

    Use your parking brake.
    Put it in reverse.

So you have the parking brake off? There's nothing stopping the truck from rolling except engine compression (pistons compressing the air in the cylinders), which is most effective in 1st gear.

parking break wheel cylinders need to be replaces and the springs. so i'm pulling the ebrake and theres little resistance before i max it out so i don't like using it.
So reverse would be a better choice because the gear teeth are straight? so is this a normal occurrence for trucks to jump like that?

It works better because the lower gear ratio requires more force to overcome the compression in the engine.

No, think of your transmission as a Torque wrench, 3rd gear is giving the truck too much leverage to roll the the motor, Your transmission is not slipping, your motor is actually turning over.. 1st gear shouldn't allow it to roll the motor as easily either. you really need to use the ebrake.

Parking brake wheel cylinders need replacing? What does that even mean?

Totally normal for the parking brake to show no resistance until the last 2-3 clicks. Your logic of "not maxing it out" is totally lacking logic.

Moreover, using the parking brake adjusts the rear brake shoes.

Use the damn parking brake. If your rear brakes need service - then service them!

In some instances I think you can cram the brake on hard enough where it seizes on and it's a bear to disengage. I haven't happen to anything I've driven though.
If it's a matter of concern, there's a section in the repair manual on how to adjust it, it should be pretty basic.

I think he's talking about the drum brake wheel cylinder. If so, he's driving around with busted rear brakes and slapping your head with one hand isn't going to be enough this morning.

Hopefully your truck doesn't pop out of gear one day and take some shit or someone out. Parking without an ebrake on a manual is plain dumb.

Parking brake, use it or lose it.Very much true in the salt states.Even with an automatic transmission,I don't only rely on the parking pawl.

Lol even my wife knows how to use the parking brake!
Aside from everybody screaming to use it you're also putting undue stress on your transmission using it to hold the weight of your truck on hills. That's fine on flat ground but shouldn't be done on inclines.

Come to a stop. Neutral. Parking brake. Let of brake pedal to make sure parking brake holds truck. Then put trans in park

    Yeeeeaaaah.

And always curb your wheels accordingly. Gravity is a bitch. I fight it every day. You fucking bitch, gravity.

Thanks for not killing anyone yet.

It's also possible the clutch is slipping.

And Toyota calls it the "Parking brake lever (manual transmission)" for a reason!

    Yeah.
Somewhat speechless, but it doesn't sound like your transmission has any issues -- yet, anyway. Could be e-brake cable is stretched a bit, should be easy to adjust. But yeah, use 1st or reverse and the parking brake.
