    Hey guys,
I'm new here and I bought a 2010 TRD OR DC back in January and have had no complaints about the Tacoma minus the rear spring TSB that many members have mentioned in other posts. I finally had it done at 1800 miles thanks to some helpful threads and also installed 5100's up front at 1.75" with 265/75/16 BFG AT's. No vibrations, no alignment issues, and most importantly, no bottoming out :)

The Post TSB pictures have no Husky in the back because the dude couldn't jump in after the lift! I'll have to condition him a bit because it's going to be his home for a long time. Thanks TW, the truck rides rock solid and I couldn't be happier. :D

I want to do this to my 06 double cab, but am on the fence about putting the 5100's at the 1.75 setting due to reported rough ride from pre-loading of the stock coil. My wife and I like the stock ride, and wouldn't mind a little stiffer...how would you compare the two ride wise? I am considering the 5100's with a lift coil, and set at 0.85 to reduce the amount of pre-load...

Great thing about the 5100's is that they are adjustable. If you dont like the 1.75" then you can always move up or down depending on your own comfort levels. I think the 1.75" with the TSB is the way the truck should have came from the manufacturer; whether that's aesthetically, bed functionality and stiffness of ride.

My truck is an 06, so the TSB is a no go for me...thinking of 1.5, or 2 inch AAL. Don't think I want to go to 2.5 on the 5100's...just want it to sit right afterwards with a bit of rake like it has now, and a nice ride.

I have the 5100s at 1.75 and the rear tsb. sometimes i think about dropping it to .85 to soften the ride a little. i love my taco with the little extra lift.
glad to see some pics of this setup with KOs. i'm gettin KOs after i get full use out of my rugged fails.

I think you'd be surprised dropping it to .85. I ran it at 1.75 for a week but had to drop it to .85 to help with eliminating the front diff bearing vibe. I wish I could take it back up to 1.75 because the ride was so much softer. At .85, you get more feel of the road and bumps but the handling is tighter. At 1.75, it handles bumps much smoother but feels looser on the freeway and in the turns.

It is a softer ride set at 1.75" than it is at .85"? That doesn't make sense to me because at 1.75" the spring is compressed more and the shocks are preloaded more which reduce the amount of travel. If this is the case then I absolutely will set mine at 1.75", just worried about it being too stiff.

TSB was free from Toyota, but took a bit of time to get it done.

Both trucks look sweet in the pics. I have 5100's on order from DSM and will be doing the TSB at the same time. Cant wait!

I know. That's what I read about before. But in that week I tested them out on both the freeway (hilly freeway up here) and on rough back roads (windy, bumpy 2-laners).

Prior to the 5100's, the harsh bumps on the freeway were just that...very harsh and bouncy (due to worn out shocks). Back roads were very bumpy.

At 1.75, almost didn't notice the major harsh bump on the freeway. Before, my wife would have to plug the hole on her mocha cup to keep it from splashing out. At 1.75, hardly even noticed that bump (actually, it's sinking pavement where the truck drops down on a turn then hits the higher pavement). No need to worry about spilling the drink. It seemed like the suspension had more room to absorb the shock (due to the truck sitting higher would be my guess). On the back roads, I could hardly feel any of the bumps. The ride was so smooth...but not as tight in the steering/handling. Overall, you feel less bumps/potholes which leads to a smoother ride.

Now at .85, she has to watch the spilling of the mocha on that bump again on the freeway. Still nowhere near as much as before the new shocks. But a definite harsher bump than at 1.75. Back roads are a little more bumpy again. You definitely "feel" more of the road at this setting than at 1.75. Thus, it's not as smooth of a ride.

I am curious if those other people who claim it is harsher at the higher settings actually drove their truck for awhile at both settings. I know they said it would be rougher at 2.5, but 1.75 compared to .85? I just don't remember specifically. But I now know from personal experience. I'm still debating going back to 1.75 and dealing with the grind/vibe because I still can't believe the difference in the two settings.

If you change them yourself, give it a try and drive it awhile (BTW, I had an alignment done at both settings, so you can't discount it for that). I really would like to hear others' opinions and see if they agree.
