Oh yeah, it won't open, Haha! I'm going to pop the tailgate open this weekend and take the panel out to see what's really going in there. After watching a couple of the pop&lock how to install videos I know what to look for at least. And as long as I can get it fixed quickly and cleanly no one on my street should complain, hopefully.

Changing the subject, does everyone here have that feeling like the Tacoma was made just for them? I've only had it for a few weeks but every time I drive it I feel like it's just perfect for me. The way I sit in it, the height, the narrowness of the vehicle makes it so easy to drive, as opposed to like a full size truck. I was worried with the long bed that I'd have trouble living with it in the city but it drives like it's a lot smaller that it is.

    I friggen love my truck!

Right now the roads are white with salt all around me. Its crazy. Sand works quite well enough for the passes out west in Cali and the Rockies... and if the roads get that bad that the sand doesnt work, they just close em.

As for people driving in the snow... well thats a whole other story... its sad that people in new england cant drive in snow.

Before I moved to Cali, I had a couple close calls with idiots in the snow. Once I was on the merrit with about 4" of snow on the ground and traffic was moving reasonably for the conditions until we came up on an accident where, so trafffic came to an almost standstill, watched this guy in his small SUV keep barreling down the left lane, until he realized what was going on, he slammed on his brake and did a 360 right on the merrit, I got lucky his nose went in behind me, then he was facing backwards as he passed me, and his back end went in in front of me... how he missed my car was sheer luck... sure enough we get past the accident and he moves back over to the left lane and goes barreling on as if nothing ever happened.

Had another time I nearly got rear ended 3 times in about 1.5 miles by the same kid in a honda civic. Was stopped at a stop light, light went green and I started moving, looked in my rear view and saw him askew in the snow back right behind me. Went down the road, 2 lights later the light goes yellow so I start slowing down early knowing he almost rear ended me before, basically trying to force him to slow down early, sure enough he locks it up and puts his civic into the snow bank again. Light goes green we start moving, a couple lights later same thing, coming up on a red light and I start slowing super early, he locks em up and put it in the snow bank.... craziness...

Ive got my own feelings on why people cant drive though... cars do to much for people now so they dont need to think about anything... and now with touch screens and what not it just detracts from their focus even more. I miss my 1st gen for how simple it was, and like my 510 even more for that. If the trans on my DCLB ever goes Ill put a manual in it... everyone should have to drive a stick at somepoint in their life since it forces you to pay more attention to the car and what is going on..

    end rant...

    Hahaha

Can't believe I missed this. What happens when you look for Tacoma frames :stirthepot:
It's probably just lose fluid very, very slowly over time. I'd top it off and call it good. Only reason to swap working fluids is because they break down due to heat but, with a manual jack, I'd say that's not a concern.

Merritt is 2-lane each way that goes past Sikorsky? I drove that a few weeks ago, it was fun until there was some slight construction

If I remember, the elimination of sand by CT DOT was due to poor water quality during spring runoff. Now they run pure 'rust'. Salt is great as long as you're driving down the road 5 minutes after they drop it. But if they don't keep dropping more it tends to eventually get slicker than owls shit.

It's all about the coefficient of friction... Sand adds to it on ice...

Personally I think you have plenty of meat still on the pads in the photo to last well past March. If the truck was mine and I couldn't work on the truck in a garage right now, I'd run them as is.

Ah so spray can clear? I've used some before and didnt have much luck with it. I think we might need to experiment a little on the best technique. Or I can bring some clear and a gun if you have a compressor?

You can try adding/changing the oil out. But usually when a jack wont hold enough pressure to keep going you have to re-set the check valve ball on the seat. Which can be a huge pain.

It's all spray cans. I have a compressor and a cheap gun that came with it, I'm good with experimenting though. These seem like quality cans, maybe not Montana or MTN level, but not Krylon either. I should have plenty to do the two lights (one can of each), I should probably just experiment a little first.
