Just took my truck to the beach. Had no problems when I went a few weeks ago, but this time, BSM error message came on about a mile down the beach. Once I got back to paved road, I checked to try and clean and I could not see any sand around the senors under the bumper. Good thing my 5k service is in 2 weeks. One more thing to ad to the list.

Now that it's been even longer that yours was 'fixed', has it malfunctioned again? Do you know if they did anything else besides replacing the BSM sensor?

Had a similar problem with my BSM system, every time I turned it on during the day it was fine. However whenever night hit or I drove through a dark underpass my system would default to the BSM error message. Ended up being a faulty sensor, with a TSB already existing. They changed my sensor and its been problem free for 3 months.

Do you by chance know the TSB #?

Very late to your response. My apologies. But they fixed it the very day I took it in. They recommend that I turn off the BSM when going up my local beach. Since it has nothing to "pick up" from the water edge and sand dunes, I think it throws off the calibration or something.

I'm at the dealership, on their WiFi. I just sat down, had 2pm appointment. BSM quit working lastnight. Let's see what happens.

Just came back. "Left Side Slave Module Was Misaligned" and they realigned it. Whatever the fuck that means, it's working again. So, 1 hour 20 minutes total, Code C1AC2.

BSM stopped working on my Tacoma. Dealer is saying it's because it's lifted and the horizontal beam is off from factory settings? Anyone heard of this? They say they can recalibrate it but it may not even fix it and will be 3 hours Labor

That sucks man. I'd call a few other service departments in your area and see what they say.

Did you lift it, and then immediately experience the error? Worst case I would think you could shell out the $$$ for the first calibration, and then as long as you don't change your lift, any further errors should be on them.

With how easily these things get dirty/misaligned, I'm debating just holding on to it until I pull the trigger on a steel rear bumper, at which point f*ck it, I'll be my own BSM.

Compleeeeete bullllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllshit. It's just misaligned, dirty, or dying. I had one that I got re-aligned (what they said) around like 5k miles (1 hour labor on the form, covered under warranty). It gave me problems again, but after I installed my lift, and the dealer went ahead and replaced the whole sensor, no hesitation. I mean, I'm sure it would have helped make my case since it failed before my lift first, but there was zero hesitation on the part of my dealer. They've basically told me, any part I haven't touched, it's still under warranty. If I have touched it, we'll play that by ear.

I'm at 6.5" lift, and my BSM works just fine. Find another dealer, or go to corporate.

Why not have a steel bumper, AND your sensors? @CBI Offroad Fab makes a pretty sweet bumper I have my eye on, but my wallet just aint feelin it yet.

I'm gonna go with CBI front and rear when my wallet gets too heavy, didn't realize anyone besides C4 was making a BSM compatible bumper.

I'm thinking the CBI works with your backup parking sensors, but not BSM.

It didn't error until a couple weeks after I lifted it, was working fine until then. With all the lifted tacomas out there I figured someone may have had recalibrated there's with success. Just don't want to shell out $360 having no idea if it will fix it.

It will for sure fix it. 3 hours seems way too long though. Ill take a look at my paperwork later when i'm off, but I'd imagine the service should be around an hour.

Like I said, look at other dealerships too.

Thank you. I'd absolutely do it if they quoted 1 hour but 3 seems excessive. I'll get a quote from another dealer.

First time seeing this for me. 2 hours into trip from Sacramento to LA. 96 degrees outside, no water. I'll take it to the dealer next week when I get home. I hope they exceed my expectations and actually pull codes.IMG_9459.jpgThey'll probably tell me SSP did it.

I just had mine looked at as well during one of the maintenances and I was told that in order to properly diagnose the issue, I need to return the vehicle back to factory ride height then take it back and they will look at it.

I laughed at them and said that won't be happening. Leith Toyota in Raleigh NC sucks by they way. :)
But at least I got my free oil change out of them.

I'm having the same issue with this as everyone else 17'. They've had my truck since Monday and telling me I might not get it back till next week. Every time I take in the keep it for over a week. They had it for 6 weeks last time due to rear end issues. I really like this truck but i've had about enough of it being in the shop. Those new F-150s look better and better every time I pass one.
