Hey. I got a 2016 with the tow package. Is the truck supposed to come with the 4-pin to 7 pin adapter? If so, where is it?! lol

    Thanks!!

You should have both connectors on the rear bumper. Not an adaptor.

You guys are quick. Sorry. I wasn't clear. If the trailer has a 4 pin harness, I was looking for the adapter to make it 7. Like this...but 4 pin

You don’t need that. You use the 4 pin plug that’s to the right of the 7 pin plug.

You have a 4 pin connector on your truck. Going to 7 is not going to do anything for you.
If you had trailer brakes the you would need a 7 to 5 to make your reverse lockout work, but just use the 4 on the truck, same results.

Ok. I should have said 5 pin from the get go as I do have brakes on my trailer. I was just hoping someone was going to say yep. In a secret compartment... that is NOT in the manual and if it was... it's hidden in there too.

Its at Wal-Mart or Pep boys. It doesn't come with the truck.

5 pin might not fit the 4 pin opening because of the plastic surround.

I was towing a boat trailer with a 5 pin harness (Eagle trailer) and the 5 pin was too long to fit into the 4 pin opening because the plastic was just a bit too close to the plug. I could have probably wiggled the connector to get it to fit, but it would have been jammed on the plug, so I used a spare 7>4 adaptor I had. Not a functional difference, just physically would not fit.

You can see how tight and recessed it is from this picture.

I wasn't saying use a 5 pin trailer end in the 4 pin slot. I was telling OP the only reason he would need an adapter would be a 7 round to 5 flat. Then he could use the 7 pin socket on the truck and plug the 5 pin trailer end into it and have full function.
There was some confusion early on in this thread because OP posted a pic of a 7 to 5 and said he need one like it just with 4 pin instead of 5, therefore I told him use the 4 pin on his truck, he would not need any adapter. Then later he comes back and says he did need the 5 because he does have breaks. I am very aware that a 5 will not function properly in the 4 socket, I work on boats for a living and have seen some "rigged up" things when it comes to traliler lights.

I have read this thread a few times now and am totally confused. When we speak about adapters you ALWAYS speak of tow vehicle to trailer and not the opposite. So any discussion SHOULD be 7 pin to.....

I know many will say who cares? But when one doesn’t use the correct terms it confuses those who know the correct terminology. Add in to the confusion that the OP didn’t know if he needs 4 or 5 pin or at least misspoke. I kept thinking you can’t use a 7 pin trailer on a 4 pin vehicle end plug.
