    Yea...the blocks were a mistake. Live and learn. I was to anxious, and I got them same day I put the 5100's on. Truck was way to nose high and I wanted to remedy that situation asap. So yes, I over payed for the blocks when I could've waited and got the AAL in a week. It's alright, AAL's are in, and I'll try and sell the blocks or something.

    Just the thread I was looking for!

    2011 DCSB Prerunner. Don’t want to put blocks on.

    Should I just go with Bilstein 5100s set at 1.75? AAL in the back? Nothing in the back? I don’t do any serious off-roading, just maybe some light trails in the future.

    Why do you recommend the Billies at 0 and using OME coils? What’s the advantage going that way? (Still uneducated, been reading through forums for weeks now)

    No worries! When you pair the 5100s at 0 with OME coils, you're gaining lift from the longer coil, which results in a smoother ride. When you use stock coils set at a higher setting, you're preloading the shock, resulting in a much rougher ride.

    Aha, an explanation that actually makes sense! Now someone advised me that if my dealership approves the TSB leaf replacement for my 2011 that I won’t need an AAL and can just purchase billies and/or coils. Does that sound correct?

    I would still recommend an AAL depending which coils you go with. If you only lift the front 1", you could leave the rear alone. Anything more and I'd throw in an AAL.

    If you decided on no AAL, then there's no need to get 5100s in the rear.

    And the main purpose of the AAL is strictly to raise the back, correct?

    Correct! There are two types: single AAL and progressive AAL. A bi-product of the single AAL is that it increased your carrying capacity a little bit. I can't put a number to that though. The progressive AAL rides a bit softer (from what I have read. Never owned a truck with progressive)

    Ah okay that’s good to know. I don’t haul anything, so progressive might be my best bet, given that I want to keep the ride as smooth as possible. Do progressive AALs come in different lift sizes? Or is it one generic amount of lift?

    From what I understand they're all the same thing, just rebranded. It doesn't really matter which one you get and they're all the same lift. The lift itself is gained from the thickness of the pack, whereas the single AAL adds arch to the pack which is where the lift comes from

    Understood. Now the million dollar question - would I come out better buying a kit with the setup I decide to go with, or should I try and find everything separately?

    I have minimal experience working under/on trucks. Would it be something that’s doable in an afternoon? I’d probablt put out a PSA for anyone in my nearby area with experience to come help out one afternoon.
