I rode in a Citabria and we hit some grass strips, but this was the first time I actually did the landing on one. It’s so fun!
What a beast. I’d love to fly it

Some cool shots from the other day at work. Going to give them some quick edits and post them on the gram later. If you're not following me, you're doing it wrong! @ntxcardinalflyer

The C-180 is a beast, which is why they retain their value. A true short strip/ heavy hauler. One of my mentor's has a SkyWagon and man it is a blast to fly. Generally don't need much more than 1,000' for take-offs or landings except high DA or weight issues.

Some unusual flying at the end of this video ... looks like maybe a F-35 doing some "hot-dogging" where they should not.

However, I am not an expert and not familiar with this situation either ... just looks dangerous to me.

This is primarily a B-1 video, but unusual things happen at the end ... starting around 7:00 and especially at 9:10.

My very first flight in any kind of flying machine ever, was in a Jet Ranger. Probably mid 80's. Some kind of winter festival going on in town, and you could pay to take a 15 minute ride from the lake ice in either the Bell, or a Cessna 180 on skis. I was all about helicopters at the time, so that what I chose. Got to sit up front. Staring out the chin bubble on takeoff, my grin couldn't have been any bigger. The experience of my still young lifetime. Next ride was in a DHC-2 Otter on floats. That's when I caught the float flying bug, for which unfortunately, I have found no cure.

Eh, I don’t think it was too dangerous. The fighter was well within its operating limitations and within the pilot’s skill level. The only thing that would seem abnormal is the proximity to the lead plane, which is difficult to gauge due to the camera angle. There’s no good references to judge how far away the two airplanes are. From what I can tell, the spacing looks similiar to the spacing used during aerial refueling, which the fighter pilot must be trained for. I’m by no means an expert either, these are just thoughts pulled from the air between my ears.

There's a little showing off for the guys in the back of the C-130, but it's nothing I'd get wound up about. I'm impressed by that bird's stability; he's in the prop wash of the Herc and is still able to stably swing side to side. Say what you will about how over priced it is (and I agree), that's a well engineered machine.

Based on that, I'd say the F-35 would be able to refuel from an MC-130, which makes sense if the Marines and Navy are buying them too. That bird is going to have to trail C-130s in crappy conditions to refuel, so if anything this is a platform stability demonstration to prove that it'll be a low-risk maneuver.

    Lots.
Ran into a gentleman named "Flag Dave" at KFSM in Arkansas on my way back across the country. One hell of an American and a great supporter of the military. I'll definitely be making it a regular stop on my future trips out west.

Last flight of the year done as I'll be headed to Houston (commercial - boo!) for Christmas. 2.2 in the 206 to E80 and then 3.8 in the P210 to Moriarty and back to Tucson. 40 knots on the nose most of the way west... was a long day for sure. I'm hoping for another 200 hours in 2018 :D

As a bonus, at Moriarty I got to see the Sharp Nemesis NXT - fastest homebuilt aircraft / record holder. It's currently being prepped to fly to DC to be placed in the Smithsonian. I did my best to wipe up all of the drool I got on the wing...

How do you like that foreflight logbook? Im for sure going digital after I finish my last 46ish hours of training and my last 2 certs and 2 ratings. Then i still gotta find a good place to get my tailwheel endorsement.
