    Yeah, I doubt I’ll do the Ham thing. Only reason I even have a CB is for the trail. It works just fine for that.

    I thought HAM would be complicated, but as I read through stuff, it really isn’t.

    Gives me everything HAM would without needing the complicated classes. Though I'll probably get a cheap HAM setup as a back up because redundancy.

    My father in law is into it. He has antennas on his house that could shut down a block with the power. He talks to people in Germany and stuff. My social life is on this forum because I hate people and don’t want to talk. I have CB and VHF in the truck. What else can HAM be used for?

    My only interest in HAM is for emergency use or when I am with a group who had to split up looking for camp sites out of cell service/CB range, so rarely.

    Seems like So much more can be done with sat phone over ham out the box.... But I think that when it all fails. (Widespread-blackouts, major disasters, zombies taking over the world, etc) HAM may be more useful.
    Also, I think after license and equipment is acquired, HAM is free there after(?)

    I've read that alot can be be done with HAM but it takes above average know how....

    Getting HAM is on my bucket list
