    I have regeared and was about to get the tune when I got rear ended, but I'm sure if you regear and tune it'll definitely help more than just one or the other.

    The fronts of all v6 AT Tacoma’s use the 8” reverse IFS clamshell differential. So you are one of the lucky few who can do a 4.56 gear swap.

    Yes with oem tires and 4.88 gears, the AT 5th and 6th gears are still taller than the MT 5th and 6th gears.

    Now put 33s on your truck and now you know why these trucks are always in 4th.

    I just installed ssp and it is way better than stock shifting im enjoying it. Can you describe the difference you feel in truck and the benefits you have noticed with the 4.88’s. Truck really lags off line

    I am waiting on my gears to be delivered and subsequent install. Going to keep my ssp and continue it's use in sport mode when towing. Glad to hear the gearing was a success.

    Yes, that is the same part number sent to me via ECGS for my 2016 Sport. Not installed yet so can't say for sure.
    I also sent off the two sets of ring-and-pinions to Oklahoma City for REM's ISF Process (http://www.remchem.com/services/isf-process/). Hope that works too.

    went with a full rebuild as I have 25000 miles. Depends on your mileage if you need mini install kit or master (full). I think Rouge Off Road has info on that posted - check post #4 of this thread. I will PM you on who I purchased from.

    The complete rebuild is the best way to go. A bit more expensive but all new parts.

    Is it possible to just swap ring and pinion? I’ve read the recommendations about the lower mileage option.

    Is the package kit absolutely required for a 25k mile truck? Sorry for the stupid question.

    I currently have 3600 miles on my 2017 that I bought in last December. I dig how they offer the mini kit, but like you’re saying, it’s so invasive, do it right once, cry once. Even at my mileage I’m still gonna do the full kit. I really don’t wanna go back in there haha

    Yes, I’ve got a 2016 with 6000 miles and doing the full kit. In addition, just got my two sets of ring and pinions back from Oklahoma City with the REM surface process accomplished. What a change from original surface!!
    Now for the install. :bananadance:
