Did have a coil debate. I bought him new 881s. Took off the eibach and we figured out the ones I took off my mom's truck are 883s.

Bumper is 115lbs..supposedly. can't find a solid figure. Could be only 70 too. Not sure.

But put the 881s on for now. He doesn't want a lot of lift and should ride nice. Won't have a winch or skids

 

Yeah what I figured. If it sags..have the 883s on hand haha

 

Rough ride doesn't fly like it does on trucks because you can't just say "it's a truck what did you expect" haha. I do think it is weird how much their missing for their rears though, seems like they need better options. One of the most common I see is people just using 80 series rears on the 4 runner rear, nice lift and still smooth.

 

Yeah but you can only run lc coils if you have like a rear bumper and wright and shit.

Otherwise it's pretty much ome coils or toyotech

 

Yeah def best to have some extra weight. Well I see no options besides coilovers through the floor and a full internal cage.

Rear options are pretty limited. I did run OEM springs from an LC80 before I got my rear bumper. Now I run an OME coil designed for minimal lift on an LC80 in the rear to compensate for the weight of the bumper, sliders, and roof rack. It's a little firm, but it's the only coil that will support the weight in the rear when loaded up.

For the front I decided to go with the toytec coilovers, but I'll probably be replacing the front with Kings in the near future as both of my pasenger side shocks appear to be leaking after my California trip. Not sure what I'll do with the rear shocks, options are very limited for those. Nothing seems to have the travel numbers I want.

Wish you would have mentioned that a week ago so i could have ordered them. "How bad can factor bushings be" I says. "I have at least 6 months before i need to replace them" I says. NOPE The tech told me he couldnt align the rack because i didnt replace the bushings and there was too much play...when i told him it was a brand new ome rack with 10 miles on it (driving to the shop) he was confused. The bushings are made of god damn bubble gum. wtf. can't wait to do this all again when i replace the bushings next week

 

Well that sucks.

FWIW, you don't have to pull the rack out completely to swap bushings. You can leave the lines and steering shaft connected. Also cut the lips off the old bushings and they should be super easy to remove.

 

Ya. Thank god I can do the rack without actually taking it off. Just so pissed the bushings brand new are so bad the techs told me they can’t do it. It moves soooooo much

 

I am a little surprised by this. It shouldn't be moving that much. Seems odd.

 

It makes a pretty big difference really when it's a tech just reading a computer screen and isn't allowed to deviate from it

 

Yeah, they're made out of warm butter. I'm not surprised at all, especially trying to push around 35s.

Poly mounts or rubber, my rubber ones let the rack walk all over the place. Poly is much stiffer.

 

Yeah they are super soft.

Still moves plenty with poly bushings too.
