the Romans were pagan at that time... in all reality the religous politics at the time is what killed Jesus, Jesus was a perceved threat to both the Roman rulers and the Jewish aristocracy of the time.

He was a threat to the Romans due to the controversy and radical thoughts/ideas he had, which inspired and riled up the Palestinian mob.

He was a threat to the Jewish aristocracy due to the fact that he taught a differing ideology from the what they believed, which diluted their status and power. The Jewish aristocracy used the threat of anarchy and rebellion to provoke the hand of there Roman overlords.

Jews did not kill Jesus, a Roman executioner did, on the orders of the Roman leader who was afraid of another rebellion in Palenstine (which the emperor would have his head for). The threat of rebellion came from the Jewish aristocracy in the area...

The jewish people had nothing to do with it just the religious aristocracy

    .... but thats off topic....

    please carry on

I have always been a believer in the Lord or Father, However I stopped going to church cause there are too many Godie Too Shoes there that feel that they are closer to the Lord than anyone else. That is the furthers thing from the truth.

I would say that I killed Jesus, and I'm neither Jewish nor Roman.

As far as what I meant when I asked are you born again, John 3:3 says "Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God." The rest of this chapter goes on to explain exactly what this means.

I totally understand. I attended a Christain school when I was younger (high school) and saw so much hypocrasy that it left a really bad taste in my mouth. I consider myself spiritual and I do have a relationship with God, I just feel that I don't have to attend someone else's church to maintain it. That and the fact that the religious right scares me.

So called Virgn-births were pretty common back in the days when Jesus was around.

Seems there's all sorts of stories circulating that once science disproves them, they were only meant to be taken figuratively.

JMO - Those that have to determine real or otherwise IMO are missing the whole point. Regardless of your faith, there are some great life policies that can bless you as well as others. If you have a hadrd time with me using the words blessed, well consider much of it great personal policy. Ten comandments is a good example. If you don't agree with them ask yourself why.

If all of us just grabbed the concept of forgiveness and ran with it we would all be happier people.

For those that want to prove everything wrong so that you feel right... Where else does that show up in your life? Is it working?

Just some thoughts and I am glad to see it here!

there is one major difference between christianity and all the other religions...all the other religions the leaders are dead...jesus is the only one that raised from the dead and is alive...just something to think about

Ask visa or my wife. They both constantly remind me how much I've got left to spend.
Actually most gods of the time were resurected after being killed, hercules went to Hades and returned, Osiris from egypt, Mithra and Krishna never dies becausd he is a god and is above the laws of this world.

Actually jesus is not historic either. The bible is not a first hand account of his life as any bible scholar will tell you, since Mark is the oldest synoptic gospels. It was written after 70 B.C. since it talks about the Roman destruction of the temple and Jesus was crucified about 33- 35 B.C. This means that about 35 yrs went by before the first copies of the bible were written and all of the people who were present at jesus time were long gone by the time it was written down. Also the first bible, the Septuagint, was a greek copy of a translation from Hebrew and we don't even have an original copy of it. All of our modern bibles are copies of the Codex Sinaiticus which was written after the 325 treaty of Nicaea where the powers of church and state combined to cull the people under Constantine. All the original "bibles" were destroyed by Constantine and all Christianity was regulated through him and his church.

Also one other thing If you start quoting Josephus as a "eye withes to jesus" look up the word Interpolation.

lets not turn this into a debate...nothing good will come out of it. In the end we will all still believe what we believe.
