    CRTK made great knives, unfortunately they are now like most and just market very good knives made in Asia.

    Don't get me wrong here, they are very good knives--they are just missing the "Made in USA" part. Maybe if the government stops sucking the life out of our economy we can get some of that back...

    CRKT and CRK are different companies. CRKT (Columbia River Knife and Tool) aren't the best quality and mostly made in China. CRK (Chris Reeves Knives) are top quality knives made with premium materials here in the US.

    I have a few as well. They are made in Boise.

    I just ordered the Carbon Tanto blade from knife art too.

    One thought that crossed my mind is the vast majority of knives are made the same way. Mostly automated. Back in the day, hand made would justify the extra cost. But shouldn’t automation mean lower cost and greater accuracy? Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy with the Spartan, Hinderer and CRK that I do own but I’ve always justified the cost by the amount of hand work required to complete the knife and make it perfect.

    Sorry for rambling but I am curious what others think about automation in custom knife making.

    Agreed. This is why I’m attracted to companies like Great Eastern Cutlery that still have many hand-work steps and rely on a seasoned operator to grind/polish/buff everything to match up and sit tight. But I get it. I also own a Strider fixed blade that cost me what a CRK costs but it’s just a slab of D2 with frag grips on it. To each their own.

    Nice. Mine is a small. The blade is about a millimeter off center and it drives me crazy. I'll either sell it or send it in to CRK for warranty work.

    It'll be free but still $10 to ship and I'll be without my knife.

    Tighten or loosen the pivot to center the blade.

    All serrated is the only way to go in my book. Wire, rope whatever plus it will still cut a tomato at the end of the day if needed.

    Knives made in Taiwan or Japan can be of amazing quality!

    They still do, the Delica and Endura are best sellers and are made in Japan, a lot of their premium knives are made in Taiwan also.

    The Sebenza 21 has a pivot bushing. Tightening the pivot doesn't do anything.
