Experience with Air Armor M240 Air Compressor?

Looking to get a small air compressor for the truck and came across this one and wanted to know if anyone had bought or used one. I really liked that it came in the ammo can- thinking I could just strap it in a corner of the bed. Not really looking to permanently mount anything on the truck. I know this topic is a beyond a beaten dead horse but I appreciate any help.

Little pricey.

Hello there Smithw3. Just wanted to let you know we have a bracket custom made for the Air Armor M240 which can be mounted to your vehicle. The M240 locks into place in the bracket and can be easily removed if needed. Great way to keep it in place in case of a rollover and for general security.

That’s a little bulky, I have a

$91 Viair 88p Portable Compressor Kit (12V, 120 Psi, Forup to 33" Tires)

Viair 88p and slip in in a little canvas bag and it sits behind the passenger seat next to my tool box on the floor of my AC. It a great little compressor.

I’m surprised they put it in a box like that.All these little compressors get hot when there running.

 

If their claims are right, that it can air up a 35" tire from 0-35psi in 5 minutes, that is impressive and makes it worth the money. But I would also have concerns about it being cooled properly.

 

I like it because it's fast and because I can throw it in my tool box and not worry about it being broken by Jack stands, pry bars, tools bags, ect... being tossed around on it while I'm wheeling. And I'm not really worried about it overheating. It can't get very hot in 5 minutes of use, which is all it should take to get my 33's from 20psi to 35psi.

 

All of these little compressors get HOT fast. It's not the motor that heats up as much as the heat generated by compressing gas. Having it in a can is probably not an issue if the can is open during operation.

 

That's my thoughts. Just leave it open for a few minutes after use before packing it up. What's hot to the touch is different than what's hot for the machine. They're designed to handle the heat generated by compressing air. I'm not saying that it can't get overheated, just that simply because it's hot to touch doesn't mean it's too hot.

 

so has anything put this air armor thru the pace? too hot? recommend? i need something sturdy for my tacoma and forget about it. thanks
