What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Fluid Filmed the Tacoma and buddy’s F150 yesterday. 8 cans total and the KBS wand to get inside the frame rails. Should have taken some pics of the frame but it’s stupid clean for 21 year old truck! 2-3 small, like dime sized, rust spots I’ll be taking car of in the spring.

 

The original question was about fitting 5x7s in the rear. Are you referring to the front? Because, yes, my fronts take a 5 1/4 rounds but IIRC, I had to use an adapter ring to make that work. I can't remember why tho. I may have been because of depth.

 

Toyota did offer a TRD package on trucks with the 2.7L, however, if they were autos, no e-locker. In that configuration, it was the trans that determined whether the e-locker was there.

 

On 95-97 the rears are 5 and 1/4 just like the front

 

I would think that you and Zane would be on the same page for this but I think he is saying they are 6.5 rounds in the rear which is what I recall.

Trd 5spd with no locker, only had it if you specially ordered it I believe. It could be trd but no locker, v6 had a locker if it was a trd

 

Made my axes a little easier to access.

 

I was told by a Toyota dealer there's no way to tell if a truck is even a TRD by VIN. When I ordered an axle housing from the dealer my VIN had two options locker or no locker. It appears the VIN only displays cab style, drivetrain type 2WD/4WD, engine type and transmission type.

If one really wanted to I guess they could make an SR5 a TRD and no one would know

When pouring that concentrated anti freeze....am i suppose to mix it??

 

Seems a bit dangerous. I little head while driving could be very distracting.

 

let me ask you this, if you make orange juice from concentrate, do you mix it before you drink it?

Seriously. Read somewhere to not mix the 50/50 with concentrated. Didnt read about mixing....ooops. 50k miles later.what can go wrong

 

I know it's not the right way but I've always just put the first gallon of antifreeze and water in the rad unmixed, then mix my second two because I likely won't use it all. All mixes in the engine and rad eventually.

50/50 is just pre-mixed coolant. if you buy some concentrate, just dilute it 1:1 with distilled water, then you have the same thing as the 50/50

 

The light bar brackets for "El Taco Diablo" came in today... now I just need a 42 in curved light bar to go with them.
