I have a front skid from RCI, but now it's time for more. Just can't decide between my transfer case skid or sliders. I don't wheel crazy trails but enough that my trans case makes contact as well as my tube steps.

What's more important and likely to hit first?

Heres a pic of a trail that I go both up and down, and the dips are deeper than it looks too.

Which do you hit more often? Personally, I’d get sliders next but you probably can’t go wrong either way.

I do remember hitting my tube steps more but it wasn't like all the weight slamming down on them it was just well slidding.

Whack the driveline enough and you are both damaged and stranded.

Whack what sliders protect and you have bodywork, but can keep driving.

I do like the part about being able to keep driving.

Do the tube steps offer any kind of protection? Again I'm not slamming the weight of the truck on them but simply just sliding on it?

Maybe from ferns or light sand. Other than that they will get stuck on stuff easily since they hang down so far. Check this out.

I have not had them. It from what I gather from others, they can provide minimal protection but if you come down on something hard enough to destroy them they usually tear up your rockers as well. Again, I've only been told this never had an experience with it

Take your time and do your research. Tacoma modding can become overwhelming at times. :D
