If you dont have any cryptocurrency at the moment you really need to get on Coinbase and make an account. Then do the same on Gdax so they are linked. Both Coinbase and Gdax are the same company. Think of Coinbase as like the default bank and Gdax as the banks stock trading platform. You want to use Gdax as often as you can cause trading will have no fees (for the most part).

Once you have money in coinbase/gdax you buy bitcoin and then you can transfer it over to other exchanges.

I've made it as far as to purchase some ETH from Coinbase. Probably should have just went with BTC, but thats another story. Now I'm just trying to figure out the best option from here. Feel like a complete idiot trying to figure this stuff out. haha

You can either transfer ETH to some exchanges or when its time sell and buy BTC so no worries there!

Can one of you guys help me understand something, or at least clear things up for me?

    I bought:

XVG (Verge) at $.25 (USD) for 0.00001734 BTC.

Today and the last few days it's been going up and down like most of the markets, however it shows it as:

XVG (Verge) at $.22 (USD) for 0.00007777 BTC.

If I sold it now, would I make a profit even though my USD amount is lower? I've contemplated asking in some of the Facebook groups, but they are extremely toxic to new people. I've bought and sold the last few weeks, mostly to my dismay as I have been doing it based on USD, and my poor timing/nerves. I'm much more used to the dips and higher prices now and I've also resigned myself to the fact that the money I've put in is like driving down the road and throwing cash out the window.

I guess my other question would be, should I trade based on USD/Fiat, or based on BTC value?

    Thank you.

You want to try to think of it in relationship to BTC when you can. The USD is a decent quick reference though. But when you are trading into and out of BTC you really want to go with BTC value.

You probably bought XVG when BTC was worth like 17k so that 1734 BTC was worth more in USD terms. Now you are looking at BTC being worth 13.5-14k so that 7777 BTC gives you more BTC...but its USD value is lower.

I hope thta makes any sort of sense. Still on cup number 1 of coffee :)....which means i just did something silly in selling 1 LTC to move it to bittrex when i needed to just transfer it and not sell it lol

That's about right, yes. So it's better then to try to trade only in BTC value, and as BTC value increases, so will the value of what I just sold... correct?

Anyone on here holding REQ or OST? Those are two of the coins on my radar but I haven’t committed yet.

Still just 58 euros on the manufacturers website. Cheaper and you’re guaranteed not to get a counterfeit. I highly recommend getting them directly from the manufacturer even if it takes longer.

Yeah. I watched the price on Amazon jump in one day from $79 to $99, then the following day it was $149. That lead me to look around online and buy one from All Things Decentral (When they had it in stock). Still waiting on it after two weeks.

Yup but $20 shipping, still cheaper at around $90.

Yeah but the shipping fee is atrocious. Like $40. It evened out a little over $100 in total when I bought from Ledger themselves. Still, I agree that you should buy from the manufacturer for a guaranteed real one.

    Edit: total was $99.21
