It said that sunroofs are usually tempered glass and if there is any kind of crack when you get it tinted that there is a possibility of it blowing out....pre-existing cracks being the key.

When I get mine done I'll surely post up when it explodes.

.....dunno, I'm still trying to figure out my tint options, but I will definitely tint the front windshield and see what happens.

So the place I was going to use was telling me that the good ceramic stuff that supposedly rejects most of the heat would cost just over $700 to do all the glass including the sunroof & windshield....I guess I'm going to keep shopping around.

Is there any way to tell what was put on the vehicle or are we just at their mercy?

I got 5% all around... with the windshield brow/visor. 3M tint. I paid $60... But a friend of my sister's does tinting and hooked me up.

    Local shops wanted 180-220.

I do have to roll windows down at night if making turns in places without any street lights... Or when backing into a parking spot. But i mostly drive during the day and love the dark tint. It does a great job at blocking the Florida sun.

Local tint shops quoted me $350 or $320 for Llumar CTX (ceramic) for 5 windows, 15% + 30%. Those were the 2 cheapest quotes for a good ceramic film.

Is the ceramic worth it or is that just a boatload of BS about the heat rejection?

Also for anyone who's done their front windshield, how is it wearing polarized sunglasses......rainbows galore?

I think the metalized tints could cause signal problems (although the tint guy said it only affected AM radio for him) so I avoided that type. I think ceramic vs carbon isn't huge, like 60% vs 50% IR rejection or something like that. Bottom line for me, I wanted to go with a trusted brand (e.g. Llumar, Solar Gard, etc...) and figured the small difference between carbon and ceramic was just a drop in the bucket over the course of xx years of ownership. I think a trusted brand of film and a good installer is probably 90% of the equation.

They're telling me the ceramic does like %80 heat rejection.....that make any sense?

Did you do the windshield too......how is is w polarized sunglasses??

Most web sites I've looked at say like 50-70%. The more telling stat is that I don't think it is significantly different from carbon film, for example.

I didn't do the windshield but the shop I used was Llumar only and they had an 80% Air Blue or something...slight tint (equiv to factory front windows maybe) and a slight blue/green hue to it. The storefront had all of their tints samples applied in squares, 5, 15, 30, 80% so it was really convenient to see the difference side by side. I'm guessing many shops have this set up...might as well do some drive-bys without committing to get an idea of what you want. There were also several employee/customer cars there and they might let you look at them.

For me, my biggest dilemma was night visibility. In all my cars I usually got 30% tint and turning left or right on dark streets felt a little sketchy since it was darker and the interior lights reflect off of the glass. This time I just said "eff it" and got 15% up front (on top of 80% or so factory glass) and 30% in back (on top of 25-28% factory glass). 2 days in, it seems okay. Left turns tonight I was careful since I couldn't see the upcoming median very well. I also can't see much in my (auto dimming) rear view mirror at night--mostly just headlights.

Finally found a place with decent pricing and got it done when I had the 15k servicing done.
3m color stable 5% on sunroof, rear doors & window and 20% on the front doors, and decided to do the front windshield with the 3m crystalline. .
The windshield made a huge difference. I would have used the higher end crystalline all around but it was a lot more expensive.

Sliders are next since I noticed a door ding or two and they're essential for offload.
