    Mostly stuff I built.

Clutch disks, pressure plates and flywheels are wear items. Just like Brake components they are going to wear and need to be serviced or replaced. Slipping the clutch a bit in normal everyday driving is going to happen. Starting on hills and even taking off on flat ground is going to cause some slippage in the system. It’s normal and isn’t going to hurt a thing.
Excessive rpm while easing out the clutch and not rev matching a while down shifting will cause pre mature wear to the components in your clutch system. So basically all things in moderation is ok. However if you are zinging the engine to the rev limiter with the clutch 3/4 of the way out you are going to let the magic smoke out of it.

Just don’t forget magic clutch smoke smells really bad and is expensive to get put back in.

I think the biggest thing is DO NOT rest your foot on the clutch!

Your foot should only touch the clutch when shifting, otherwise keep it on the dead pedal to the left.

Clutches are something that you use as little as possible. Never as a substitute for a lower gear when going around a corner etc. My 2001 Taco (which is now driven by a good friend) has over 225,000 miles and the ORIGINAL clutch. As for the hydraulic portion. This is just the linkage used instead of cables or rods. Only get advice from people who have a proven record of very long clutch-life ...Unless you enjoy replacing them frequently.

Sorry, I have not. I have seen one in use as a courier vehicle in the Toledo, Ohio area, coming back to my parents this Christmas. Most of the courier services we use at work in NY use Transit or Sprinter vans to keep the load covered and secure.

Tip - after you shift keep your hand off the shifter until you are ready to shift. I heard it is bad to keep your hand on the shifter

My gas mileage is way too terrible to make that a worthwhile gig (~15mpg)...unless I was moving drugs. Hmmm

Not bad to keep your hand on the shifter between gears, just don't put pressure on it one way or another, a light touch is good.

Any of you guys have experience converting from an automatic to manual transmission? I would love to learn about your experiences.

Folks that I knew did conversions back in the 80s / 90s. I'm not sure that is possible without a huge outlay.

It'd probably cost less to sell and buy an M/T considering the resale prices.

BTW, I was out in the snow goofing off for the first time. The truck is as much fun as my Ural was.

Got this shirt and socks as a Christmas gift from in the inlaws. Complements my new MT taco. Also greatly improves my driving skills when wearing :)

I have been on a TW sabbatical. Too much going on in the real world to be on Tacoma World. Glad to see this thread is still going strong and even better that there are a bunch of new guys who joined the club. Cheers!
