I have a 2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD off road. 4000 miles on it. Brand new. I was driving and it just cut out. Choked. Died. Could start it again 10 min later got it home. Started it the next day was fine drove three blocks it died on side of road. Sent up warnings like low oil pressure. And high temperature fluid temperature. Checked the oil had barely any on the dipstick went and bought some came back to my truck checked the oil again and it registers as fine. Added a little anyways to be safe. Not much but what in the ever loving hell is wrong??? Toyota will have to come and get it Tuesday but for now I am screwed. Any ideas guys. Please help. I am a girl but I do understand shit if you tell me. Please help

yes if its a bad sensor its a very easy fix for them, the truck should be fine im sure no damage has been done that's why it shut down because the computer senses somethings wrong and shuts down, its called Limp mode. don't worry let the dealer take it and fix it you should get a loaner if necessary.

With a 17, I would take these pictures and the truck back to the dealer on Tuesday and say WTF-fix my shit.

Good luck keeping rolling over the long weekend.

edit to remove 3rd gen forum reference-i see you caught it a while ago.

The sensor is on the block, behind the wheel well splash panel, the passenger side front. There is a diy thread and write up in the 3rd gen forum. It has pics and all. Seems real easy to do. Just have to take tire off for better access and room. Good luck with it. Hope this helps.

Thank you. I’ll try and find what you said. I am new to this forum so I’m not sure how to look for that. But I’ll try and figure it out

What i did was type cps location in the search box, upper right side of the page. Then just started looking and found a diy write up for 3rd gens.

Good Luck, classic symptom of CPS failure, Toyota will cover getting it towed in to the dealership and should give you a loaner but that is if they are even there on Christmas Eve.

Assuming you have a new repalcement CPS, it's like a 10min job. Pop the passenger side splash guard off(inside the wheel well) 10mm socket on an extension; pull the old one out/ new one in. I would disconnect battery during the process so the computer resets all codes.
