Confirmed- don't switch back to regular oil after high mileage

That moment you get an alert and think you got an intelligent response to your question on tw.....

 

Its just ive never heard of this issue before. My gut tells me that switching the oil has nothing to do with the issue you encountered.

 

There's lots of discussion about the Earth being flat, doesn't mean any of the argument is valid.

 

UPDATE:

Picked up the truck from frame swap yesterday. Asked the tech who performed the swap if he saw any fresh oil leaking when the engine was out and was told no. I had also not noticed any fresh oil coming down since a couple weeks after switching back to the hm oil. Take it for what it's worth. But for me, I'm convinced the switch had some part in the leak. I'm sure the leak will return at some point down the road. The tech also didn't think it was out of the realm of possibility for the change to hm oil and back to explain the seep issue.

If I could go back in time I probably would have just stuck to non hm oil from the beginning and only switched if I noticed a small seep, to try and swell the seal a little. For now it's hm until it starts again, badly enough to re-do the timing cover seal.

 

Just an update to my original post. Have been using hm oil since I had the issue and nearly a year later the leak has not returned. Probably just a fluke thing, maybe one in a hundred or something, but I'm convinced.
