Why did you choose a 2nd gen over a 3rd gen?

Sorry to break it to you bud, but .... No, it doesn't.

If the tip of your spear is 2nd gen Tacoma ownership, I have some bad news for you...

I had a 2017 TRD OR and after 6 months and about 12,000 miles I was fed up with the constant shifting and the feeling of having a lack of power! I used the ECT button all the time and revved the crap out of it to get any sense of power......doing so caused the MPG's to drop to 12 MPG.....the new 3.5L shouldn't be in this truck!!....oh well, I sold it and bought a 2015 TRD PRO.....love the power of the 4.0L and the MPG's are better then the 2017.

the interior in the 2017 is slightly nicer but nothing to brag about!!......no memory or power seats in the 2017....

Which truck would you rather have???no plate.jpg after lift.jpg

    :hattip:

You definitely upgraded the color. Good choice there.

3rd gen has that covered though... looks, interior, performance, power, tech. Every category.

Saying the 2g is better than the 3g, is about as silly as saying the 1g is better than a 2g.

I’ve been shopping for a 2nd Gen or a 3rd Gen (I currently own a 1st Gen). The first thing I did was test drive a 2015 4.0L manual followed by a 2016 3.5L manual. It was very apparent that the 4.0L engine had much more torque. Driving the two side by side I thought the 3.5L was a dog and told myself I wouldn’t be buying one of those. That can also be verified by dyno charts. The numbers don’t lie.

    Nice chart bro:

    2G RWHP / RWTQ with a K&N = 202 / 236.
    3G RWHP / RWTQ with a K&N = 242 / 231.

Only in retardo world, would the vehicle with 40 MORE REAR WHEEL HORSE POWER and only 5 less torque, be considered the dog.

Sorry about your truck... No need to be sour grapes about it tho!

Im guessing your 2nd gen is the nicest vehicle you have ever owned and therefore, you "must defend the maiden's honor"!!!

I don’t drive at 6000 rpm so I would never see that difference. Look at 3000 rpm and let me know what you think.
