I really don't want to remove them, but hanging them sounds like it would work. I'm living in the one apartment while this rehab is going on and it's winter here. Although I'm not even really using the heat. I don't know. Anyway thanks for the idea!

Block up one side of the rad, replace plywood under that half, then block other side and repeat.

Obviously you have mad skills. CA is not a tax friendly state as you may have heard, good luck with finding your LZ.

Looking at northern California for at least a bit. And honestly, working in Maryland, Delaware, and Pennsylvania is a nightmare of fees. I don't get licensed in an area till I have work there.

anyone have any ideas on how a split door jam can be fixed ,I had 2 pistons for an outside glass door and someone didn't make sure it was completely closed/locked and low and behold Xmas day we are having a wind storm of cold air and the door blew open and ripped the upper piston out of the jam but the lower is intact yet,i tried to replace the upper piston by rescrewing it back but the shocks piston is bent (no good). I would like a complete fix with a new door jam which would require a carpenter, unless I just reglue the torn wood and repaint and leave just the lower shock/piston. any suggestions?

Possibly, a majority of the shop is my father's, located at my mom's house(which is its own issue) I've added a good bit of equipment over the years. And I'm not sure what to do about it yet. It was a sticking point on leaving this area in the last few years, and where before it was my my place to relax and be happy its lost that this year. It was always a bonus to construction because I could knock out some more complicated builds there but between the trailer and some of the tools I've added in the last two years, there isn't much I can't do on site.

Maybe when its warm, I have an offer for Cali in late spring, and a place to live there. But I'm not set on any one place and might just see where I can go with the connections I've made

Can you clean out the old screw holdes, cover some dowels in glue, and hammer them into the old holes? This has worked well for me in doors with worn out screw holes. I think i saw it on this old house.

You should be able to get a replacement piston at any hardware store
