It is very normal. Have seen this many, many times with those who won't use their parking brake. The faces on the owners, coming back to their vehicles and seeing the results (not where they left it) is hilarious. Of course, I've not seen the events which cause harm or damage. Those wouldn't be funny.

I had a 1980 Celica in College with no rear brakes / Broke college student.
The trans was auto and had been rebuilt, this car was dogged by the previous owner.
The car had No Park & No E-brake
I had front brakes that would stop on a dime after rebuild...

The 20R motor ran & ran & never left me stranded.
I parked it with the front bumper against light poles all the time.
    I carried chock Blocks too!

Please explain how parking in gear harms a transmission.

I've been driving manual transmission vehicles for 30+ years. I've always parked with the shifter in first or reverse. I always used the parking brake. I've never had a transmission problem and I've never had my vehicle move on me. I'm surprised OP's truck hasn't hurt anyone or damaged any property. It's called a parking brake for a reason.

wheel cylinders that are leaking allowing air into the brake lines which since air rises in liquid would make its way through the lines into someplace. when i got the clutch work done just over a year ago the pedal was snappy and no shifting problems at all. now i'm getting teeth hitting each other on some shifts as if there's air in the slave not picking up the clutch fork all the way.
something is letting air into the system, i replaced the front pads, rotors and calipers so there's no leaks coming from them so its got to be the slave.

Your brakes hydraulic system has nothing to do with the hydraulics for the clutch. Completely separate systems. You need to check the reservoir for your clutch for proper fill.

There are adjusters in both rear drums to do this.

As a matter of fact, the emergency/parking brake system is usually a separate system from your hydraulic brakes. Usually mechanical, just cable and spring, for that very reason. If your primary braking system failed, then your emergency brake would fail too. Tightening up the cable should solve the problem, that and parking in first or reverse.

I hope I didn't imply that the parking brake was hydraulic. Adjusting the cable isn't the appropriate way, unless it wasn't properly adjusted previously during a brake job... The rear shoes self adjust, there is some manual adjustment that can be done if need be. Sounds like when OP had his rear brakes worked on they replaced the shoes and not the worn drums. I assume this, as OP said that the off-oad shop adjusted them all the way up. Probably should have replaced the drums

the offroad shop was looking at my leaking rear axle seals and took the drums off to see how much grease was on the shoes and let me tell you, there was a lot. I wanted this shop to do the axle seals but they suggested me to take it to a stealership. The offroad shop adjusted the drums and the stealership put in new axle seals, and shoes. New drums probably wouldn't hurt. I think the springs need replacing too, the ebrake doesn't' return as it used to .

LOL! I can't take credit for that profile pic. It's not me, it's a youtuber named Lamarr Wilson. He posted it on twitter, and I thought it would make the funniest profile pic, so I stole it.

I don't think you did. I was just clarifying for archival purposes. Imagine the rabbit hole someone is going to be going down when they start researching their transmission problem...
