The Toyota brand remote is coming but not until the spring of 2018. If will work similar to the other Toyota model remotes.

All Toyota manufactured remotes will shut of when the door is open. I haven't seen one that hasn't and I don't think Toyota will design it differently for the Tacoma. I'm not sure why this bothers some. Simply get in and start the truck, not sure why it's a big deal.

Ya I don’t understand it either. It’s a safety feature no one can jack your truck while it’s running!

we don't want to turn it back on again because remote start is a convenience. starting it up again is an inconvenience.

Yup, turning the key or pushing a button is super inconvenient.

I just don't understand why it's an issue. If you buy an aftermarket remote start the vehicle will still shut down when the door is open with the smart key push button. If you have a key an aftermarket remote start will still stay running but you still have to put the key in and turn it.

I thought running out to start it and running back inside waiting for it to warm up was the inconvenience. I guess I didn’t realize the multiple layers of inconvenience this truck starting thing has. I want an app that reads my mind and knows when I want to leave and can turn on the truck and know if I need AC or heat and then pull up to my door and open it for me while telling me how attractive I look today. I want it to know what mood I am in so it will play the right music at the right volume and know when I need a safe space so it will try to sooth me.

It’s really not that big a deal to just restart it!

I’ve had a few American rentals and the remote start won’t turn the car off but you do have to press the start button with the key inside the vehicle again before you can take off. Seems like a fair trade off

I bought the 12vsolutions for my 2017 TRD sport DCSB w/push start. Plug and play harnesses with the OEM harnesses. Literally a 30 minute MAX job.

I also bought the Add-on smart phone module, which allows starts from your phone from anywhere(not just the range of your fob.

My experience with customer service @ 12v was nothing short of refreshing to say the least. The owner walked me through some issues I was having getting set up.

There are less expensive options but I found this worked best for my application. YMMV

Another vote for the 12v here. Plug and play version for me. Took a bit longer as I zip tied everything to my OCD standards. Even zipped the on/off switch down by the OBD2 port for easy access when at the dealer etc.

I'm really hoping to get good service with them after the holiday. I installed mine and rather than getting a green light it is yellow and wont turn off after the 3 seconds. Overall your sill liking your remote starter?

I'm still very happy. And the Taco inline secondary heater (Turn all the controls;fan, heat ,defrost-on high) kicks in if you set them up the night before. Its great pulling off in a warm toasty cab.

I know there are some differences in options/settings for the starter. on/off toggle for me was the holdup, but like I said they got me sorted. GL

Mine did this too, however, turn the ignition off and back on (don't start the truck) and mine turned green. I texted the support number and he confirmed that not all of the boxes flash orange. Mine went to solid orange/yellow and didn't go off. Truck starts on 3 locks.
