    I'm totally 100% beautiful.

But you know what makes your comment even more useless? What @BartMaster1234 is actually having problems with is replacing an upper ball joint... which is a routine maintenece item on ALL trucks... and you're here telling him it would be easier to sell his truck and go buy a new one.

Mine just started to not start and now will not start at all. I did not have the opportunity to pre-order the parts. Hoping the local starter alternator re-build shop has the parts in stock,

He's doing a 4x4 swap. Then he's going to do an engine swap. Context, please.

My comment, mostly in jest, was geared toward these two big projects.

Now you're arguing a red herring.

As I said... not mad, just speaking the truth.

I don't understand how anyone thinks you can just sell a 2x4 and go buy a 4x4 without
    A) Buying an older truck than you had
    B) Buying a truck with a LOT more miles on it than you had.
    C) Spending more on the truck you are buying than the truck you just sold.

Can someone please explain why it's a better option to buy an older truck, that has more miles on it... and you have no idea how it was treated or serviced... than to spend about $1500 and keep your truck AND have 4x4?

That's a hard line to use without real proof, I suggest you avoid it since it leaves you with the burden of said proof.

Plus, as seen before with your balljoint choices you value your time very low, luckily I do to so projects like swaps don't put me off but for some people that might be a good enough reason to spend a bit extra for one already assembled and working. In many cases you can get these trucks cheap and fix a couple minor things and be better off than before (as I've also done)

So... you traded in a Prerunner and bought a 4x4 with less miles on it. Ok, so how much more did you spend?

    Real proof?

Again the proof is right here...
    Read along with me...
YOU CAN NOT SELL A 2X4 TRUCK AND THEN BUY A 4X4 TRUCK WITHOUT SPENDING MORE THAN THE $1500 (AND A FEW DAYS DOWN TIME ON YOUR TRUCK) IT TAKES TO DO THE SWAP... PERIOD.

Unless you are willing to buy a truck that has more miles or more age (and less sentimental value) than the truck you are selling.

2x4 is inherantly LESS VALUABLE than 4x4. There is your "proof."

And I do value my time, contrary to your belief. Wrenching on my truck with my sons and friends is one of the ways I choose to spend that "valuable" time.

I'm sorry all caps text from someone on a rant isn't listed in the journal of scholarly sources. But nice try enjoy convincing others here of your point. That's cool that you're making it worth "your" time to work on the truck though, let be clear I'm not devaluing that on its own merits, simply that many don't see it the same and would like it done so they can use it.
