Orange County CAF's: up to no good

You guys wanna go up this coming Friday night? Meet-up at the Maple Springs Visitor Center?

 

I was thinking if @Tacotruck7 wanted to go up sometime this week and not run solo I might be able to join. I won’t be able Friday, I’ll prepping for the New Year’s Run on Friday...

 

Yeah, Friday night is the better time I'd be able to go. I possibly could do Wed or Thur this week, but I wouldn't be able to meetup until around 5:30pmish? Do a run up to the peak, stay up there for some pictures for about 30min or so and run back down. I did it before. Just let me know if interested.

I can certainly assure anyone that a "regular car/SUV" that doesn't have considerable clearance could NEVER gain enough speed/momentum when leaving the "flat part of the peak"!!! That small hill, when exiting, is EXTREMELY loose dirt/rock!!! You would, most definitely, have to be towed/pulled up the hill and for roughly about 100yds or so. Once you go down that hill, there is no other exit, but DOWN!!! LOL!!!

2wd, on open diff, with decent clearance can make it out, but typically you need a good running start and it starts to get pretty bouncy as you get towards the top of that small hill!!!

In the picture, I was in 4lo going up... EASY PEEZY just CRAWLING UP!!! LMAO!!!

 

I made it back up with the rear end of the truck bucking like a horse and chewed up some rubber on the rear tires from spinning.Had momentum from the start and wasn’t aired down.
Is that white colored sofa recliner still there.I think it was either Madison @YotaGurlIAm or Jared @PapaTaco that spray painted the TW letters on it.

 

Agreed, but decent clearance is recommended as there are "pothole/steps/ruts" that will easily drop you down pretty far enough to your frame as you're going up. I would have to say that would be the only limiting factor in that sense? Other than that, yeah, I definitely agree with what you say.

Regarding tires, hypothetically speaking, if someone was to have street tires, even aired down, I wouldn't recommend it, even if that person has AWD/4WD. Just adding the opposite of what you said about good tires. You would, most likely, make it out, but it would be challenging for sure.

That recliner, that I know of, is no longer there. There was a brown colored couch on the side of the road, off to the left, as you're heading up to the peak, but on Nov 23 of this year, I did a solo and was expecting to see it as a "landmark", but it was no longer there? Pretty hard to miss it.

 

As you all know i’m 2wd/no locker and wasn’t aware at the time like i do now to drop into 2LO and turn off/disengage the traction control/LSD switch.
Yeah wouldn’t assume the “Landmark” stuff would remain there.

 

LOL, now "I" know NOT to expect a "landmark" up there. I was actually looking for it going up.
