F-150 is a great truck. I have had two, but double cab models don’t fit in a standard two car garage. My ‘17 Tacoma double cab does.

Love my 2.7. When Im not towing I average mid 20's if I keep my foot out of it. I trailered 6000lbs into the mountains with another 500lbs in the bed with no problem. One switchback with a super steep grade slowed it down but other than that, it is a solid truck. I went with 2wd on the Ford to save money, fuel economy and I didnt need it. When weather sucks Ill drive the older 4wd Toyotas.

Tons of interior space too, tons. I can walk into the back area, thru and out the other side and Im 6'2".

Only thing I think Ford missed was the rear leaf springs. I was almost on the bump stops in this pic. Ill be installing air bags to help whem towing.

Im considering a tuner too. Adds 30 hp to an already impressive 325hp and 60 ft lbs when using tow mode.

I run 93 octane only because of the turbos and compression.

Im at 9000 miles on it now and have trailered a lot of weight with it many of times. 2000 to 3000 miles of it is towing miles.

For me the Tacoma is a off roaders truck. I am in the forest driving forest roads and some old logging roads often. Do not need a tow vehicle though I do pull a 3100 lb travel trailer. My Tacoma's all four of them have been a wonder where that road goes in the forest truck.
My nephew has a Jeep and we go out together not to see which one is better but to have fun.
Quit bitchin and go enjoy your truck in the woods where it was built for.

The Tundra definitely needs something. By far the fatest, rounded and ugly truck on the road. Looks like it belongs on the moon or something. It’s just a fat bubble.

Lot of guys here bitching about Toyota buy backs. And be happy you even get calls back. A lot of manufactures leave you in the dust until it’s set in stone they are going to buy it back. As for ford customer service I can say one thing. I believe out of our 16 manufactures we carry that Ford is about the only one that still gives us money to put customers in rental vehicles. Most only will under certain circumstances or extremely big repairs. Toyota doesn’t do that. Lots of people here bitching about Toyotas corporate customer support. If you’ve had 10 f150 and no issues and this is your first then I would say it’s oretty obvious you got a bad truck. It happens. Why sit here and bash them? I know if we had a customer who bought 10 f150’s and had a problem truck we would do everything in our power to help them completely and if the case was severe enough, we’d talk to our district rep and push hard for your buy back

There’s a lot that goes on in a dealership, the process is a lot more complex than other places. The job itself should obviously only take 15-20 min. But add all the bullshit, other customers they have to attend to and you can easily double or triple that time. A lot of time the paperwork takes longer to close out then the work performed. Even if you have an appointment at a certain time it’s not guaranteed your vehicle will be pulled in at that exact time, even if you arrive early

I came out of a 13 f150 fx4. Wanted to get into another f159 but there wasn’t any good incentives. Even getting D plan it was a higher payment for a lower trim with less options. Plus I was just going through a divorce, so I figured if I could save some cash why not. Plus I didn’t need all the room anymore. I had a first gen taco that I loved. Like the look of the 3rd gen, and they had a great balloon buy that makes sense on a Toyota. So it was a win win in my book. At some point I’ll probably go back to an f150 just because I think the Tacoma is underpowered. Other than that I don’t think this is a bad truck

I am a forever GM Chevy truck owner. I considered an aluminum Ford as my next truck...buddy has one, 5.0 coyote is a great engine, the aluminum body "less fricken rust" in upstate NY is a plus. I chose Tacoma because my wife's Venza (awesome), Toyota quality, resale value, and at times...when my wife drives my truck..she doesn't like to park a large truck in tight spots in a parking garage (work). I've owned the Tacoma 3 months...so far I absolutely love it. I do miss the larger bed... A little more quietness ( rock salt on road is noisy, do I need to Dyamat rear ?). I did have my truck Krown oil spayed for rust prevention since I live in the rust/salt belt.

What I was trying to convey is, the previous generations were quality builds, but ford has gone to shit with the current Gen. The quality control is lacking and it’s showing. An example is one fella on the F150 forums bought a 16, turned out to be a interior water leaking pos. They did a replacement option buy back, and he got a 17. It leaked even worse and they did a lemon buy back on it and now he is in a GMC. If you read the current gen forums, they a littered with problems. The TSB list is astoundingly long, and only getting longer. It appears they rushed this truck into service before working out some kinks like they did with the 3rd gen. I went through the ford RAV lemon buy back on my 16, and it was a giant fucking pain in the ass. They are so clueless and it took me almost 4 months to complete. My truck sat at the dealership who completed the final forms for buy back for a whole month because the ford rav people neglected to call and make sure the GM sent the paperwork. I had to make a payment on a truck I hadn’t seen in a month much less even driven.

Fords F150 sales have taken a pretty significant hit, while Toyota Tundra sales are pretty steady without much dip. Ram has increased significantly and pose the biggest threat to F150 until the new Silverado gets released.

I didn’t just get a “bad truck” it’s becoming a systemic problem for Ford and it will show. I’m not “bashing” I’m only throwing out my experience.

    Brand new so nothing yet.
Can’t quite wrap my head around a 2.7 with 18 mpg. I got 20.5 with my trd off road on thanksgiving on a 125 mike trip. With pictures to prove it so no one freaks out. By the way ford suck. Thanks for the info though. Somebody had to take one for the team.446A55B2-742E-4B70-A2F5-2F3FFCB8B5A4.jpgF8A68849-C4D7-404B-A4C3-77CFDC23F9F5.jpg

I am unsure, I will check the door sticker tonight. Drive the 4Runner to/from the shop unless I need to pull the trailer.

My father in law has a new ford with the 3.5 and I drove it in Florida on a straight flat stretch and could not even get 20 mpg with the cruise set at 60. The truck drives great but as usual the mpg's were not that great

this is one of the bigger complaints by owners and reviewers is how ford "falsely boosted" their numbers for fuel economy on the 3.5 and you are lucky to even see anything above 16mpg or so on the 3.5

hopefully you are out of that window, if not you might be in for a giant headache. Google 2.7 ecoboost oil consumption issue, sit back, drink some coffee and look at the fun carnage that comes with it. Cross your fingers you arent one of the ones that is caught up in that.

I will check but I doubt it. I bought it Aug 2017 and the local dealerships can't seem to keep them on the lot.
