I wanted the long box double cab as well but a M6 was a must so I ended up with a 1 foot shorter box.

AFAIK, there are no DCLB MT trucks made. If there were, I would own one.

Didn't Canada have one? Maybe last year? I know they had some configurations we didn't get in the US.

i think people are referring to my posts. the 3.5 puts out 300hp in other platforms. I thought it was just a matter of tuning the Tacoma engine to get the same output. I am fine with the top end/low end balance of my stock engine. I wanted more overall power even if it meant 91 octane.

that doesn't seem to be the case as it was explained to me.

Yeah I wouldnt be surprised to hear that the 2GRFSE has separate cam profiles from our 2GRFKS, and maybe even more significant differences. I realize they are all based on the 2GR block but a lot can change from one engine block to another. Additionally, that Camry/Lexus engine's factory rev limit goes a long way to explaining the extra hp because it revs out another 1000 up to 7000 stock and the OVtune allows 7200.

You have to remeber the application for the 2GRFKS is a truck which needs torque more than HP. When torque goes up horsepower goes down and visa versa and will cross each other @ 5252rpm. You wouldn't want a Camry motor in you Tacoma.

You're not wrong, and I wasnt asking for one! I actually like the Tacomas motor and think it fits the stock truck very well. any more power and you'd quickly outrun the rear drums! I was just saying I think there are more differences between the two than just an engine tune!

Definitely more of a difference between the two motors than just a tune. Mechanically there would be a difference in the cam profiles, different intake and maybe even a head design change. Toyota is now using the 3.5 in a variety of different models that all need very different power applications. They could have never done it with different software so mechanical difference must exist.

For me I want torque and sure hope the OV can deliver on my '18.

    I
It will be here on the 28th. I'm a little worried because I find the mapping on the '18 not bad at all. It will be interest to see what the OV tune will improve on.

I've heard this as well... We shall see but it was a night and day difference on my 04B10 '16 (more like 15.5 but) V6MT

Hmm, I'm gonna have to try one out the next time I'm at the dealer for shits n giggles. FWIW, nobody (including Mat) has revealed the '18 M/T ECU version AFAIK.

We get MT DCAB SB OR down here. Wish we got the AC configuration, I rarely have passengers, but having a 6ft bed vs a 5ft would be nice.

It seems like most, or nearly all, have had good and noticeable results from this tune. It's not about extra power for me. I just want the truck to have more linear acceleration without all of the jerking/surging/dead spots or whatever you want to call it. What you mention about throttle response is encouraging. I believe it's probably worth the cost of admission, but it'll take me awhile to convince myself to spend $800 on it. I'm sure I will eventually though.
