Im having problems with my UCA's rubbing on a 3in lift. Is this normal?

Just put a 3in lift on my 03 double cab and my upper control arms are about 1/2 an inch from the inside of my tires. If my struts compress any more than about 3/4's of an inch, my UCA's will def. hit my tires. I put in bilstein 5100's with a 1in spacer. I also got some 1/4 inch wheel spacers but it didnt bring my tires out much. Now I knew it was going to be close because im running 285/75/16's but I had a 98 with a skyjacker 3in and I dont remember it being as close as this one and I ran a wider tire(32/12.50) on that truck with no wheel spacers. Did I do something wrong or do I just need to buy 1in wheel spacers?

 

my friend has a 3.5 inch lift and put 285/75/16s. He's got about half a inch til he rubs on his wheel UCA. I told him to turn on the truck and turn his tires full locked and when he does a full turn hes rubbing on some metal that were gonna have to trim and it gets extremely close to the UCA. So hes going to have to buy 1.25 wheelspacers from spidertrax and everything will be fine. You going through the same thing it looks like so you probably need spacers. Anyone back me up if they can lol

 

im not real big on the look of 1+inch wheel spacers because it makes the wheels stick out so far so would aftermarket UCA's work as well? Like a set of fox, icon, or total chaos? And how much do the wheel spacers run? I would need 4 for all 4 wheels to make everything even

 

Aftermarket uca's will give you more clearance between the tire and the arm.

 

If you just put the Spidertrax spacers on just the front you probably won't be able to notice the difference between the front and very much. Plus they will give you a little tighter turning radius. The spacers sell for $97.95
Aftermarket UCAs like those from Camburg, and Total Chaos do provide more clearance between the tire and arm.

 

do you think i could get away with just 1 inch spacers or do i need the extra 1/4 inch?

 

They dont make 1inch spacers from spidertrax. Theres is 1.25 and for all four its 216 including shipping. Idk anyone that makes a 1inch but u can go with new UCAs but that will cost your atleast 500 i think. Correct me if im wrong anyone but im pretty sure.

that group buy isnt going to go down until the end of this month or first of next and I need them this week. My buddy is a machinist and is going to make me some for under $100. they should be just as good as spidertrax. Speaking of, whats all the hype about spidertrax? Its just a aluminum spacer we are talking about not a rear end gear or a motor or someting that can break easy if not manufactured to extreme quality specs. Its basicly a solid piece of T6 billet alu. with a 108mm hole in the middle and grade 8 lugs built in, and percision holes drilled by a computer. Why are spidertrax said to be so much better than everyone else when they use the same T6 alu? only difference in the ones im getting and spidertrax that I see are mine are not anodized blue(which I dont want anyway) and I have to buy my own loctite. Please someone let me know if im missing something here....
