Toyota's ABS systems should be named "Anti-braking System" - I've almost been in a couple of accidents due to the system coming on ridiculously early. So glad my first gen doesn't have it. Saves me the work of having to remove it :)

smashed this, broke that, covered it up with tape and paint
It's part of this new thankless driving
Too many people wanting their vehicle to drive for them.
Every real driver I know says the same thing
Abs will get you into more wrecks or get you killed than it will ever save you from.

Not to mention in the 3rd gen it works in unison with the traction control to steal away the motors power to the wheels when you need to get out of the way of another vehicle and it deems you don't have 100% traction

Swapped in a Ford 9" on mine, ripped out the ABS. Only get a light and if I pull the fuse pretty sure the light will go away..

Well...on a second gen if you unplug just one speed sensor though your speedo and tac die so having an ABS kill switch vs no signal coming from the device to the ECU is two different stories right ? I have an ABS disable switch too and it works great but my gauges are not affected by it...but if I unplug just one speed sensor gauges die.

There are 2 wires going to my left abs sensor. I cut one of the wires and ran it thru a switch in the dash, essentially breaking the circuit to that abs sensor. Flip the switch, cut the circuit and the abs is disabled. Everything works fine. ABS light is on but no other lights. Trans shifts properly. I used to pull the abs fuse prior to the switch and got the same results. It was a pain in the ass to pop the hood every time though.

Depending on year and model there are a few different ways of wiring up the ABS bypass switch, you and I are lucky because the 05-06 has zero traction control shit so the bypass is easier. There is a write up here on TW for how to do it that I used, it was all under the dash.

Nope no ABS. I have the factory ABS housing (the shaft even has that ring gear on it) but just a block off plate.

Well guys... found a tundra axle. Getting a solid deal for it. Anyone have tips on the Install? Am going to try to tackle it myself. Getting the truck back from Jeff Friday. Will have to take off the shock mounts off the stock axle. That might be the only grey area for me welding lol... but I guess it's time to learn. Sucks I couldn't do the tundra axle in the 1st place but ... you live and learn

Gonna have to cut off the leaf perches and weld on new ones. Thats about all there is too it. and your shock tabs.

The guy already cut em off !:) the whole axle is clean. Ready to be welded on. So basically the mounts that were welded on my stock axle outboard the frame... will relatively be welded in the same place on the new axle correct ? The axle will just be wider pushing the tires out obviously

Not exactly. It'll be more inboard of the tundra. But realtive to the diff it'll be the same distance from center line.

    Can't measure from the drums.

You'll want to buy all new perches too. Low Range offroad and Allpro sell them and so does Kartek

That makes sense, didn't know if changing the axle would throw the whole geometry of things off and the bedcage and such. So same location from center diff. And then finding the pinion angle is huge right ? Something I have not the slightest clue about lol. This should be interesting. Have all the tools to get it done though, and the internet at my fingertips !

been talked about in here a lot. Quick search should merit the way to do that.

Geometry won't change really. you'll likely have to cut your fenders as the tires will smash into them possibly depending on how much up travel you have and tire size.

Also, they are gonna stick out super far so plan on glass bed sides soon.

And i should clarify, your suspension geometry won't change, if you get the shock mounts as they were to the T. But your wheel travel will change slightly, just the flex travel. Because your axle is wide, it makes it longer from the pivot point. So you'll gain some there. But thats it. Vertical travel is unaffected.

Okay, cool. Thanks for clarifying! That's what I was worried about. Hopefully they won't be smashing through the bed lol
