Im having the heartburn shelling out more for a roof rack for my topper than what i paid for the topper its self, dam there proud of them, finding a used one off a topper is almost impossible

    What rack are you getting?

I got a Thule setup for like, $375 from the guys who I bought my shell from.
Another $50 or $75 for them to install it, if I wanted.

What are you looking for in a rack? Thule/Yakama type or something along the lines of the Frontrunner/Prinsu?

Good info on the tracks. I'm thinking about adding a set on the inside of my shell to mount stuff.

Looking for something like yakima or thule but havent seen nothing under $500.00 for everything, seems like they sell each individual componant seperately, my local camper place tried to sell me some yakima tracks with the wrong mounting hardware for $ 173.00 with tax then i would have had to buy more hardware to replace the hardware to mount it to sheet metal.

Mostly stock with a few minor mods.
Craigslist is your friend for Thule and Yakima. Don't buy new. There's a ron of used setups for sale out there.

I just bought them again They are in the spare parts dept, my rack was torn off by a downed power line fleeing the tubbs fire. These are for a 6ft bed, the shorter ones are even cheaper. The kit from Thule has a hex wrench, silicon and hardware at a steep markup. Bought/ owned my own

Thats a game changer right there, i appreciate the info i will order those sure for tommorrow, might even order the 54" tracks for 18.00 a piece since i got the short bed, im assuming sametrack just different length, what i can tell is the 60" track system is the only one they advertiseforthe camper shell that has the hardware you need if your ordering the whole kit, what uprights are you using with yours?

Here you go. Skip the track end caps they are cheap plastic , only cosmetic and difficult to lay flat when installing. The buttonhead screws shown on orsdirect are a good price, I paid a little more at the hardware store. Use those and then cheap zinc coat stuff for the interior. The Thule kit comes with 4 per side I bought 5 or 6 I think. When my rack tore off the tracks failed (good!) and not the camper shell. Not sure it was because I used more hardware spreading the load but maybe.

Keep in mind this is the old style square crossbars, not the new aerodynamic ones. tried and true I've been using them for 27 years. 65" is nearly as wide as the truck. Gives lots of space for mounting stuff. I'm looking for used replacements and may go slightly shorter.

I agree, while searching for used replacement crossbars for my trashed rack on Craigslist I found the whole setup I listed above minus the tracks for around 100$ (asking price). several listings in this price range.

I’ve bought several racks From orsdirect. They have great customer service. I have also, seen lots of different high quality racks on Facebook Market Place and CL. If I was looking for something right now those would be the two places I would start with. Goodluck!

I looked on craigslist in my area and didnt see nothing, if ors will get the tracks back in stock i can get the rhino 2- bar areo bar rack with 4- legs for 205.00 that fits the thule or yakima tracks, that would put me into a good looking system for around 300.00 total
