Kinda like a pit crew, everyone in the group will know their role if something happens.

Changing a tire on uneven surfaces would be pretty good for us to all do

    Recovery gear I have:
    Hi-lift
    Tow straps (x3)
    Shackle
    Winch (to be installed...)

That's a great idea. And remember everyone doesn't have to have everything, you just need one of each in the group, plus a spare and a backup for the spare.
Don't forget about a first aid kit. Even dumb things like Benadryl aspirin and snake bite kit.

I have like 10 first aid kits for people. I was supposed to hand them out at rausch on Dec 16 but i didn't make it.

Good tips all around. I need to get better equipped. I know one of everything spread out amongst the group is fine, but that's Not how I am. I hate using other people's tools. I'm thinking the same will go for recovery gear. I want to be self sufficient.

How much interest would there be in taking roads like this instead of highways down to the first pass from Pikes Peak? This one in particular is county road 50 which supposedly stretches from Salida to Lake City (Likely over 100 mile stretch)
Im currently Mapping this road and looking for the shortest possible route from around colorado springs to Lake City without using paved roads, because thats what Id prefer personally.
Also @Blues0010 whats the legality of camping off of county roads like this if we didnt make it down in one day?

I haven’t messed around with my radio yet. But @Blackout14 and @EatSleepTacos can provide input on their radios witch is basically the same as mine.

Also surprised that @Blackout14 hasn’t jumped in and expressed an interest in this adventure, since this is more his cup of tea, compared to RC rock crawling/bashing.

    Where’s @Sub-Zero and @Blues0010 ?

They’ll join and help plan and lead.

    Just because I asked.

I’m like a miniature version of you with slightly less things, but most everything. On a related note, got a hi lift slider adapter today and my safe jack base plate finally. It’s nice!

I'm game. Or even a combo of that and highways, since there is some good stuff to see via highway out there

I did the bomber crash site on my quad a few years back, not sure how to access that area by truck other than dirt roads but certainly a cool thing to see

I should have winch at that point, additional snatch straps and block. I’ll also have a bedslide
