Today I install the factory RS3200 brain and harness and now have keyless entry. :D

    Super simple; plug and play.

Until someone who has personal experience with this chimes in I'll say that I've read about people not being able to do it with a 20 ton press to people saying it was easy peasy. Seems like a bit of luck and probably regional benefits of preferable climate comes into play. Often guys will bring the spindles to Napa and get a good deal on the work - may be worth it to call them unless your tools work out on them. :notsure:

    :ohsnap:

is this totally plug and play as long as you have factory power door locks?
is there a write up you followed, not that it looks too complicated

Haha yeah, plug and play, given you have power locks and doors. (THATS AS MUCH AS I KNOW)

I just carefully took the brain and harness out of the donor truck, found a fob on the floor of another truck, then when I went to install it, I followed this guide here: http://www.parksoffroad.com/tacomamods/miscinfo/taco2002rs3200installation.pdf

And then when I went to program the new fob I followed this guide here: http://www.customtacos.com/tech.old/files/tsb/TVIP-RS3200-Programming.pdf

I’m sure I could’ve added in the glass break sensors, but I honestly just wanted keyless entry.

Truly plug and play though. The lights even flash and the dome light comes on for you when you unlock it. It’s so nice.

You're having difficulty finding the most expensive trim of a 14+ year old truck in a very small search area?

    No way.

Friend sent me this while I was at the mall. Love how people recognize my truck haha.

There was a Lamborghini Gallardo parked a couple spaces away.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
Seriously? That's what you come up with out of that? Really?

I just put those search terms in AutoTrader 2001-2004 Tacoma, Double Cab, AT, 4x4, 3.4, less than $10,000 (because realistically 10 grand is wishfull thinking for my 2x4 with 260k miles)

It came back with 22 results NATIONWIDE that meet those parameters.
Of those 22 results, only 3 are less than 1500 miles from my location.
Of those 3, 1 has higher miles than mine. 1 only has 10,000 miles less than mine, but is in rougher condition. And the last one has considerably less miles but is in visibly rough shape.

So... again... you can not just go sell a 2x4 and then turn around and buy the same truck only 4x4 for the same money. I don't see how this concept is so difficult to understand.

But... fwiw... I'm not looking for a truck. I'm looking for parts to make my truck 4x4.

Yeah, and lights flash. Pretty sweet set-up.

I just like how it’s all stock, I didn’t have to cut anything up and I don’t have some awful looking fob on my key ring.

Plus, it was all free. :woot:

The unlock button on my clicker stopped working. I would love to replace it with the key/clicker combo like my ‘17 Camry has. Less crap on my key ring that way. Wonder if that’s possible....

    1) If you’re interested in saving your clicker before you have to buy a new one, you can take yours apart and clean it with some electrical spray cleaner. And obviously a battery too haha

    2) I think I remember reading about something like that on here. Like getting one where the key flips out, similar to the Volkswagen keys. I’ll see if I can find that again and tag you in it!
