You still have to put the key on and turn it.

    Excessive starter wear.

Also inconvenience. Most aftermarket remotes are wired to the brake pedal and shut the engine down if the key is not in the ignition. Much better design if you ask me.

So if you have push button start I guess you shouldn't put in an aftermarket starter so as to prevent premature starter wear. The aftermarket shut down when you open the door on smart key.

Can anyone produce some actual facts that it kills the starter sooner! Cause I don’t believe it will make any difference how many times tou start your truck

    'Sooner' is relative.

It is a wear item, so there is some number of starts that can occur before death.

But I don't think a remote start is going to shorten the overall lifespan enough that the average owner will notice.

    Or care.

Yeah? OEM would be nice. I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere. Source? (Not that I don't believe you... just looking for a bit more info.)

How does the 12v setup affect warranty?

Based on that Toyota said they install and aftermarket device when I asked when purchasing the vehicle. I can’t imagine it would void the warranty.

Glad to hear all the positive reviews. I ordered my 12v setup last night. Too cold in New England not to have it!

If you choose the plug and play module it can be undetectable once it's disconnected for service work.

The shutting off thing is stupid.

My F150 can remote start and you hop in and just put the key in to go. Everything is disabled so you can’t “steal” it. Shifter is locked. Sucks you have to start it again. That’s dumb

Yes mine is a 2013. Not sure what the newer push start units do.

Window shopping a Tacoma, I’m just picking them apart lol
