Im still confused as to how you are driving if the tulip itself is blown up

 

the driver side doesn't disconnect. The passenger side does form the diff.

Even then, doesn't really matter as the CV axles always spin with the wheel. So if the tulip is nuked..the wheel shouldn't turn..at least not well. Or there would be horid noises and it would just get worse in about every way.

 

im guessing the tulip itself didn't nuke as said previously.

 

It didn’t make any noise. No idea how. The boot came off the inside cup, so I could see inside kinda( didn’t care to look that close) I don’t really know what went wrong. I didn’t *see* chunks fall out. But when I move the shaft around it def has a ton of play. Some how it had to have been able to spin independently without making a bunch of noise. I’m equally curious. But I’m going to have to wait till tomorrow night to pull it apart and find out

 

Well..cv axles move in and out by design.






On a more sad note..


It finally happened. I hit a deer tonight with igor :sad: luckily though was just at the driver side. Almost made it past but hit it full on the ass. Bumper is toast as is grill sadly and fender.

Ordering new fender tonight.


I need a new bumper though. Thoughts? I wanted to build my own but not gonna happen in the next week.

 

That leaves almost no options other that what you have.

 

Also would have been fine with out hoops tonight. If I had had something more solid below it wouldn't have caved to hit the fender and such.

But I get your point.

 

Eric doesn't sell DIY kits anymore. And his lead times are way too far out so not ruling him in.

yeah im gonna order a fender. Pretty cheap. 104 bucks shipped. I'll just get it painted.

think you can get it. But not a fan of that thing either..particularity how you can't run any skids but all pros..

Can put hoops on anything.... That said @Blackdawg Billy makes the sexiest first gen bumper I think, full plate brute force. Makes me all warm and fuzzy thinking about it, if I didn't have other crap high on the list I'd get one to replace my current one.

I was pretty close to calling him about a hybrid actually. I like his hybrid design as well.

 

After having my current bumper I'm not wild about tube besides for grille and grille braces. It looks good on some trucks but it just isn't doing it for me. Luckily there's piles of 1st gen folks in AZ so I think I can move it when the time comes.

 

yeah i get that. Reason why i have a plate bumper on frank..

His plate is pretty nice. Tucked up damn high though.

I like what Ray did with his tube bumper though and plated the back. Looks killer really.

 

Wow you went zero to full sarcasm, careful not good for your blood pressure. Because you seem out of the loop you can buy the tubes pre-bent and notched, plenty much more adventurous folks do it.
