By all means come on out. Not trying to dissuade you, but I think we've painted a broad picture.

From what ive seen of New York it is VERY much a similar state now a days. The big city sort of pushes and whines and gets their way even when the rest of the state doesnt feel the same way :) Though I think WA its expanding outwards more just cause the Seattle area is getting to be so expensive. Get away from that area (like the coast) and youll find a completely different mindset of people. Like being in NYC then heading outwards.

By the way...fuck JFK and that traffic! Everytime we fly in there its shitty traffic to and from lol. Ive heard Laguardia is even worse now too. Thankfully its a land in JFK and head straight for CT to see the girls family. I got to experience manhatten once and that was more than enough for me.

and like @bobsuruncle said...not trying to disuade you. Just not trying to paint that super perfect picture that a headhunter/company is going to inorder to get you here. Just laying out how it is more

Oh for sure and LaGuardia F that place it’s 100% under construction 24/7.

My wife was just googling boat houses of Seattle!!? Pretty interesting...

And I’ve heard the stories of the elitist trying to take over the big city of Seattle. Also how you guys have close to 40 cranes in the air. Looks like I missed the big construction boom by about half a decade. Nonetheless I feel like I’m missing out by not uprooting and going somewhere else that has similiar outdoor traits to PNW

Hey, I moved here 5 years ago. I don't regret it then or now. I'm sure this isn't going to be the last place I relocate to, but it's a good move right now.

Little bit here nothing like what I see up there in 4 ft of snow. Here it was like 3 inches. Not even sure it’s considered snow wheeling in your neck of the woods

Yeah the GF's dad was saying they started a new project that was going to take like 7 years....on top of the already crappy access.

You definitely havent missed the building boom. its still going on. Even places we think are fine now like the Bonny Lakes and out in my neck of the woods are being built up. The main problem (like everywhere) is infrastructure. Sure the developer wants to build that 200 house development...but he aint paying to improve the roads to them!

Since your in sales if you could find a territory that was on the east side of the state things would be a easier/cheaper. I live on the east side and do most of my work on the west side for the larger tech companies.

Several years ago a lot of coworkers bought in Maple Valley and they all say don't do it now. I think the commute sucks infected donkey balls. That's second hand info though.

I'm predicting in 3-5 years my job will be more accepting of people working remotely 99% of the time. Then I'm outta here. I'll be in a converted missile silo making electricity by burning turnips and using a bicycle powered wheat grinder. Oh and a Spinning Jenny.

You have reached the Dalles. Would you like to look around?

I would welcome anyone to PNW but there are somethings that locals never address:

    Locations to skip/avoid:
    Seattle/West Seattle at all costs
    Bellevue ($1M - $10M)
    Newcastle ($1M - $7M)
Maple Valley (prices are low but don't get sucked into SR 169 = death road)

    Locations to possible check:
    Renton Highlands ($500k - $900K)
    Auburn (pockets are good)
    Issaquah but areas are pricey
    Sammamish Plateau
    Woodinville/Bothell

Plan/review for areas that have good school districts:
    Issaquah/Bellevue are top rated.
Renton/Seattle are mid to bottom rated.

Greater Seattle area housing is being affected by Amazon.
Most home sales are "no inspection, all cash"
Inventory is very low; final sales are typically OVER asking price.
Rentals in my area are more expensive than purchase.

Also ST3 affect your property taxes for 30 years AND your vehicle registration from 0-14 yr old vehicle.

Good Luck to you and your family!

totally agree with statement on maple valley. i grew up there and the population exploded in the past 5 years. the infrastructure is piss poor design and cannot handle the volume. Plus 405 blows too

Hey you are the guy that organized the Treeline group buy that I got my tent from! So my opinion being fairly new to the area (two years now). I refuse to move anywhere north of Lynnwood, or south of north renton. I currently live in Bothell and love it. Woodinville is a 10 minute drive give or take so I like to act like I live there and be boujee with the upperclass.

Hey bud! how is your RTT treating you? Thanks for the heads up. We have been looking all around and even entertaining the idea of a prefab. Either way it looks like the housing market is a booming out there. After checking out a few areas it appears that housing is right along the same price point as out here just a bit settled on the property tax side. Depending on how my interview goes today I might have to settle down on my searching :fingerscrossed:
