Good list. I would also add a serpentine belt and spare idler pulleys from my previous experience! Also coolant.

I love my new truck but miss my Tacoma
I don't think I'll be going back to the trains/B52 site THIS year, maybe next year. Waterfall tour is still on, just got super busy this season. I need to get researching more so we can get some plans finalized!

Checking out my maps right now. If we are looking at the same road, it looks like most of the route is through Gunnison Nat'l Forest and Rio Grande NF so camping shouldn't be an issue.

I just re-read the OP. Are there more firm dates for this yet? Just asking because a lot of these passes have a pretty short season when they aren't covered in snow. Mid June-early Sept is usually safe but in a big snow year, some of these won't be drivable until July.

Some friends and I got snowed out in the San Juans while mountain biking the Colorado trail in early July of 2014. We're talking 5+ feet of snow on the ground on 4th of July weekend.

Personally I'd like to go out late august and come back early September. But I'd go beginning of august too.

Have you done black bear yet? If so, on a scale of 1-10, how sketch is it?

I mean...I already have some kind of possible long-weekend thing happening towards the end of August.

That said, if we can somehow pull this off, maybe I could just drive straight out west from there? Fuck, I don't know. Too much shit going on right now. Thanks Jim @Lux for putting in some legwork on this, sorry I've been so out of it, just swamped with work and life

lol yea man its no problem, we've got pleeeeenty of time, Im just excited :p
2019 most likely, but I guess it depends on where everyone is at in terms of preparation and time off from work etc. Nothing is set in stone, its all preliminary.
What are you planning on doing? Or are you just winging it lol

Oh shit I thought we meant August 2018. If it's 2019 I might need a little finagling to make it happen since possible honeymoon will take up time off

:notsure: Its whenever anyone else wants to do it, I have no restraints right now. I could do it July or whenever. But in the OP most people are leaning towards fall, personally Id like to stay as far away from october as possible since it seems like quite a few passes could have snow on them in october.
