I think with cutting a curve a jigsaw is a better option. For my bumper it should be straight cuts which I think a wheel would be easier with. I know I can do it with a jigsaw and have enough practice that i should be able to get a good straight cut if I take my time and really focus.

Oh yea... forgot you are doing the bedsides and not the fenders... DUH.

Yea, cutoff wheel would be easy on the bedsides.

I'm gonna use a jigsaw on my fenders as well. I used a cutoff wheel on my bedsides for the high clearance and it worked great.

Sounds like we all have the same thoughts for the cutting we need to do. @trekker did you seal the cut edge on your bedside with paint or anything under the trim? I figure something needs to be done to keep the rust off.

Yea it would be like cutting for snorkel, I would say just mask it off and leave a little strip and put some good paint on there, let it dry and then use some edge trim like that is used on fenders to give it a clean look!

Yes, I used some primer on the cut edge and called it good.

^ this is basically what I did

Trim is included and I was planning on throwing some primer and paint on. Just thought I would see if there was any other ideals.

Well if Trim is included, that is even better! I would just cut it off, then file down any burs. Then install the edge trim and then mask off using the edge trim as a template. Remove edge trim and then give it a good coat of paint and let it dry then reinstall the edge trim...

Trail Toys sells edge guard that works great. The stuff that came with my bumper was too short to do both sides and sucked.

Yep, that is what I recommended, but I think he said his bumper comes with some, not sure if it is the same as what Trail Toys does or not.

Well, I still need to run the air line and all that stuff for the rear end... but don't think I am going to attempt that this weekend with the cold temps...

However, here is a better picture of the rear...

Also want to go ahead and cut the exhaust again and have it dump right at the muffler instead of going over the axle.

And still need to wire brush and paint the brake drums...

You might start sucking in exhaust if you cut it that short. My friend has his cut there on his land cruiser (your muffler is probably further back past the cab but still) and when we had to winch our friend out he ended up getting minor carbon monoxide poisoning since it dumps just passed our rear doors and came right in the cab. Just something to keep in mind.

Yea... that prob would not be a good idea... will be sure to consider that and see where it would dumb exactly.

I cut mine just a hair past the high point over the axle (maybe 3" or 4" shorter than Steven's current cut) . Seems to stay out of the way, no issues with exhaust gases...

Negative. Can't really think of many people that don't have either a shell or a bed rack.

That is kinda how I cut mine, could have got a little higher, but wanted it to dump straight down instead of back.

I know that magnaflow sells that kit that has it dumb down right at the muffler, so I bet it would work I think.
