All my fender stuff was done with a dremel. Body chop saw for the tight sections down by the bottom of the door. Bumpers I would use a cut off disk and/or sawzall.

And tape off where you're going to cut.

Did you have any issues using the dremel? I haven’t used mine a ton but I would think the little discs would wear out quickly and have trouble getting close enough. The body chop saw looks handy, I have the dremel multi tool saw as well so if I find myself in a tight section I might just use that. I’ll definitely be taping and measuring like crazy. Did you spray the cut with any kind of paint or rust protection?

I used a grinder with cut off wheels. Sawzall had way too much bounce for the thin sheet metal and that big foot mad it hard to fit in those tight spots.

I used a jigsaw with metal blade... Use a couple layers of good painters tape and draw your outline, then I used a grinder with flap disc to file down any areas that looked uneven

I'm planning to use a 4" angle grinder with metal cutting disks for my rear bumper...if I ever find the time to make it happen.

That was kind of my thought process with the sawzall. I’m sure they make smaller blades but that bounce is gnarly. I might be cutting at my folks house since everyone in the neighborhood has better tools than me so if you see the truck out front and torn up swing by!

Initially that was what I was leaning towards because I hate using cut off discs. I’ve had a few explode trying to cut some thick metal (which admittedly is probably my own fault) but jigsaws seem a lot easier.

Well if you find some time in the next few days I’m off all week and you’re more than welcome to join!

Thanks for the offer. I'm busy with family and work through the end of the year. Mid January is what I'm shooting for at the moment.

I did blow through some discs doing it but that's what they're for. I'm proficient with the tool and thats why I used it. Most people that have seen my fenders agree that they're pretty spot on. My advice is to pick whatever tool you feel most comfortable with and go for it. In the end, fenders are only $80 on ebay if you F it up too bad :D

I used a grinder and cut off wheel as well. You can put door edge rubber over the cut to give it a clean look as well. (Works great for keeping light bars quite as well.)

X2 on that. And instal it before you put the bumper on. Tight squeeze otherwise.

Does that hog-up the paint when you put it on, or the crimping process alleviates that? Thanks.

EDIT: Disregard, I checked the link. The stuff I was thinking of had metal teeth that gripped the surface.

Anyone have a spacer lift for 3rd gen runner? Or 1st gen taco front end?

Looking to throw maybe 1.5" 2" at it and some not blown shocks in the rear. Something cheap.

I used a grinder with a cutoff to cut my front bumper for the Relentless low pro. Cut like butta.

I appreciate that but the 2nd gens ones won't fit unfortunately. Thanks though!
