a tube on the intake? You mean the one that is on the intake tube that is post MAF?

yes. that shit matters. Otherwise you are sucking in unmetered air.

You only want air coming in 1 place, and thats through the air box past the MAF. It'll never run right otherwise.

Yeah I remember a couple models of car at the time having bigger engines to try to seduce people into buying Hybrids but they never panned out because mileage was around 30 mpg. Honda stopped after '07 but I think they have brought it back since. I don't think the Civic Hybrid ever had that option however.

On my 2003 I have two vac lines off the main intake tube.

One is pre maf and goes to the EVAP across the engine bay.

The other is post MAF and is close to the Throttle body. Its a very big line and runs to the passenger cam cover on the back near the fire wall.

When I was testing one of my customer's setups i daisychained both of them to my truck. When I sounded it my neighbors ran out of the house all confused.

Finally dropped some money on a decent air impact gun. I would've gotten a used Snap-On off eBay but the ones in this price range didn't come close to the max torque this puts out. That carrier bearing nut is torqued to some ungodly amount.

Am I understanding that you are looking to doing upper ball joints? I just pressed my upper ball joints out and pressed in the races for the SPC Upper Control Arms last weekend. I just used the ball joint press and 4x4 adapter rental from O'Reilly's. Wasn't that hard.

The big line to the valve cover is the filtered fresh air source for the PCV system, not vacuum or boost.

The line from the silencer is the filtered fresh air source for the evap control/purge system, again not vacuum or boost. The post t-body evap line needs to be vacuum and not see boost. I don't remember how this was achieved with the blower. It could be the location of the port or a check valve.

The line from the FPR does not want to see manifold vacuum. On an 02, vacuum on that line will decrease fuel pressure from what it should be. Boost pressure on the FPR line will increase fuel pressure. Back in the day there was a way to intentionally achieve this to help with lean out in boost but it's been many years since I followed the charger thing. IIRC Gadget called it the "Free FMU mod".

The little vacuum line (full manifold vacuum) at the rear of the t-body needs to be connected or the throttle plate will stay open somewhat (way high idle) after starting. Yellow arrow below. Your evap gear may be located over the fuel tank not behind the battery as shown below.

    PCV "flow" diagram.

Here is a possible theory that fits your symptoms, assuming the FPR is connected to vacuum.

You start it. The throttle plate does not close as it should resulting in a higher than normal idle. Fuel pressure has built up to normal in the starting process (2 seconds). As the running engine develops vacuum fuel pressure drops, engine dies.
Just a sophisticated wild ass guess.

there are ports on the blower that allow boost to be read(FPR, Boost gauge, ect) as well as ports that are vacuum only

Some of that is lined out in the install guide here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/7sug30rmgxcjnij/1st_Gen_TRD_Supercharger_Install_Guide.pdf?dl=0

from what i remember there is only 1 boost port on the gray body blower from when i did mine. Had to T it to the FPR and my URD box.

as usual. Great post full of info!

Seriously bud... When you get ready to do the work, let me know. I'd definitely do my best to lend aa hand. Wouldn't mind having hands on experience before I do my swap anyway.

@Blackdawg so.. I gave the PCV a positive pressure line. Closed off the other random line. Started and had a smooth idle(bit high). So I turned it off, slightly adjusted the throttle cables. Turns over. Doesnt start.

Coming back to me now. I lived up the street from Gadget when he was perforating his air box and stated online "I will never own another Toyota".
