I will do my best to explain it, but I am sure there are websites out there who can explain it better. Basically there is an indicator called Bollinger bands (most charting software/sites should support it) and they act like dynamic resistance/support lines. They are the blue lines in my picture in this post. They are determined by a specific formula but basically they become narrow (closer together) when the market on a coin is fairly "calm" and widen as the market gets more action. When a candle closes outside the Bollinger bands it is usually (not always) a good indicator that the market will continue in that direction. It is also important to note that Bollinger bands are most accurate/best used in a trending market and not when the market has been ranging sideways.

    upload_2017-12-27_14-50-35.jpg

EDIT: Other good indicators on this picture are the increased volume during this bull run (bars next to the 9017045) and the MACD showing the short term (purple) line above the longer term (yellow) line at the bottom of the image.

Awesome thanks man. I've been using MA's, Vol and MACD for a while but never looked up Bollinger. Makes sense now.

I also really like to use RSI which is another indicator of both up/down trends AND whether a coin is currently overbought or oversold which can help identify a change in momentum. I learned a ton of stuff about TA on babypips.com/learn I highly recommend it to anybody looking to learn about TA. It is written for the forex market but it is directly analogous to the crypto market.

Definitely gonna have to spread some of the info up front out to the other posts up front. Just trying to think how it'd be best laid out, so it won't be mostly in first post.
Anybody with fresh eyes, feel free to PM me with suggestions.
