I guess 90's Toyota engineers figured that's what lungs are for lol.

What compressor did you get? I gotta get one this summer to paint my truck.

I bought a bigass 240v Campbell Hausfield 60 gallon (4?) horsepower air compressor. THAT was fun to drive home in the truck. I brought it home in the bed fully upright. If you're rebuilding your truck buy a decent parts washer and a sandblaster. I never realized I needed them until I had them. So useful.

Pulled the trigger on a new paint job. $1,600 for integrated base and clear coat with some body work. I know it's Maaco but this shop's work looked promising. They were doing an '01 Extended Cab while I was there.

Someone in San Francisco wanted $8,000 to do the whole truck just paint and labor o_O

You couldn't afford anything bigger? Lol

My parts washer is 99 cent store degreaser and a spray bottle of steaming hot water lol. Someday, someday.

Trust me once you get a parts washer you will never look back. I don't know what the hell kind of cancerous chemicals it's synthesized with but damn does it eat through grease.

I was debating getting a two stage, but it wouldn't fit my garage. I found a good deal on a commercial THREE phase powered one, but my neighborhood isn't wired for three phase power. Lol.

My daughter's boyfriend had his Mustang painted by Maaco. They did a pretty good job. Sorry...no pictures.

I've thought of bringing my wife's Santa Fe to Maaco, as I do not want to spend a lot of money on a paint job. I just want it to look decent.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
I'm going to loose my last parts washer to the U.S Army in July. My oldest parts washer is getting ready to deploy to Korea, and my middle parts washer is halfway through a deployment in Iraq.

    This is going to SUCK!
I have to start washing parts... and my truck... and mowing the lawn... and picking up dog shit... and... etc... etc.

I asked the owner how long the paint package I chose would last, he told me 5-6 years with a 4 year warranty. I was about to upgrade to the base + clear coat but he talked me out of it. He said the integrated base and clear would be fine, I was VERY surprised he talked me out of it - it was like a $1,000 upgrade. At least I know they don't try to upsell people there. He was surprised when I told him I planned to drive the truck longer than ten years.

They're having a 20% off sale nationwide until Friday, I paid a $100 to have the price locked in for 30 days. If you want a cheap paint job with a discount now is the time to get it.

    Black. I'm lame I know.

It's cheap paint so It'll hide the fact that it's a $999 paint job. I was debating Impulse Red but my friends talked me out of it.

Black is good, just hard to keep shiny. Toyota reds turn to some busted chalky pink over time anyway.

Now I'm tempted to paint it hot neon pink just for shits and giggles. I could change the color of the truck to anything for an extra $300 including the jams, behind the cab, and the doorsills.

White or silver would be better for hiding things. But I think your truck is already black and you don't want Maaco doing a color change.

Mine is Impulse Red. Funny thing is, the color has always been my LEAST favorite part of my truck... I think I actually hated the color for the first 5 years I owned it. Now that it's faded, and the clear is peeling, I'm starting to actually like it.

Serious? I really LOVE the Impulse Red color on the first gens. Makes it stand out.

Oh well I guess black is fine. Hides dirt, dings, and scratches better than white or silver does.
